@ibanezbloke they are just different levels of distortion...close enough to the same thing that no one cares about what they are called now a days most distortion pedals have all 3 built in that you move up the ranks of them as you turn up how much distortion your getting fuzz is just enough to push your amp into distortion distortion is the extremer end of the spectrum so there's no real difference anymore

@Zaspor It might be the Alnico 2 magnets in his pickups, you just described pretty much what an Alnico 2 magnet sounds like. You might be missing the basswood and pu's like the Tone Zone he used to use. Which is funny enough what your describing for the midrange def and bassy notched wah tone. It can be anyone, but you have good ears. :)

XD I love his tone in Fuzz Universe it's amazing. Dude if you think basswood with a maple fretboard sounds amazing, look up Peavey HP special on here. It doesn't matter about the company, the tonewoods are awesome. Basswood with a carved maple top. I think you'll like it.

I'm not really debating the pedal because I believe the both of them sound good just saying that it contributed to the different tone, anything you put through the amp will make the tone hairs different but that's where tone and artistic liberties come into play and that's up to the player. I'm just giving My opinion haha.

I noticed that Stagg celluloid picks wear down to a point similar to Paul's signature picks. I have found them for dirt cheap. Also, they are the same material.

I use the 1.50 mm for acoustic, the .81 mm for electric rhythm and the .71 mm for lead. Also, the pink Stagg celluloid picks are VERY BRIGHT (as in appearance, not sound) so not only do they look awesome IMO, they are easy to see if they are droped.

PG is the reason why i ditched digital modelling crap and went back to analog effects and amp O/D. I now make my own pedals to push my DSL 100 harder as well and the tonal clarity is just unsurpassed by digital. I use alot more amp OD tho and use a clean boost and wow!
