Tech winning != boring. Sorry, but Alinghi lost on the water. Sure it was only two races, but Alinghi was not competitive; too many mistakes on their part when Oracle made almost none. Not being in the starting box on race 2? Seriously? Did they not commit the SAME EXACT ERROR in race 1? You want to blame a boring race on someone, blame it on Alinghi.

The comments about money are just absurd. Do you honestly think Alinghi spent LESS money than Oracle and that's the reason they lost? Really?

They learned in that event that they could easily loose the cup and so selected a challenger that would guarantee their victory and continued possession. My hope is the deed of gift will be changed to force this to be an open competition with a challengers series culminating in a cup defense. The cup holder should provide the information regarding boat type and rules for the defense within 6 months of winning the cup. We'll see how it goes.

I understand anger about the cup but do you understand that Alinghi had highjacked it and were not planning a regatta to defend. The planned defense was going to be a joke against a hand picked opponent, not the beautiful display of a cup event we had in their first defense.

The last Americas Cup was so exciting to watch with the build up competition, but this was a yawn.
