Well, the concept isn't really new; bills and ideas like these are passed around Congress with some consideration every few years or so. But as technological as we are, it's simply doing more certain harm than potential good. (As if they've been able to stop 'illegal activity' with papers before anyway.)

Not to say that it's bad to be aware of and against such things, but it's simply improbable that they would ever pass to begin with.

all i know about sopa is that, like gonzo said, is aimed at anti-piracy but in my opinion its dangerous because it puts alot more power in the government people and it could be used for malicious uses. For example lets say that theres a website that is created by the users and used by them (facebook, tumblr, ETC.) the government might close down that site because a person can simply put a song that its copyrighted or a pic or vid, which can indeed make the economy go down.

@ChrisAwesomeFace well, SOPA basically removes any fanon through it's censorship, so unless you have the HUB channel, you will get no more ponies.

Fortunately, a lot of politicians that originally supported it now don't, and chances are it will all blow over. But still, to ensure it does, sign ANY Petition you see, and if you're American, Contact your state senator and tell them that you do not support SOPA/PIPA (it should be easy to find the number to call)
