@messed2552 He wasn't "losing" his memories, he was dying. His mind was slowly fading as the battle wore on from fatigue and his wounds. The last thing he thought of was Aerith, the girl he loved and never got to keep his promise too.

The last words on each of the three DMV spins are very powerful themselves.

because they are louder and no echo. don't get me wrong the echo is great but at the end when they don't put in the echo it strengthens the effect.

im a boy too and in this last battle of zacks life i cry the whole fight :( it was the saddest game end i ever see before and my tears wont stop :( zack is my favourite Final Fantasy character and then...at the end of crisis core he must die :( this was so hard :( but tears are ok when even boys love something so much that they can cry for it :)

LOVED IT! Genius idea to use dmw system for zack to see his life flash before his eyes. Very "first-person", puts you in his state of mind as he says goodbye to everyone he treasures. 0:15 "Zack, I gotta go" really tugs my heartstrings, thinking back to the simple things like talking on the phone with a friend that mean so much more when they're about to slip away...genius

this battle was the perfect ending for the game because of two thigs: the music and the DMV. the music was both sad and climactic at the same time, and the DMV degredation, as it represents Zak's own mental state, was just genius and just so....final.

I just finished the game and saw this. I too was sad that Zack had died while fighting for his life and honor. And why did the D.M.W. characters started dissapearing? I know it isnt because he forgot them cause he still remembers Cloud and Aerith as he died on the ground.

SQUARE ENIX you...! Why'd you have to make games that...that... are just so EPIC... Zack Fair is my most favorite hero in the FF series! He should not have been killed!!! ...just went away to a different place...not the lifestream...WHY?! I was lucky enough to hold back my tears while the final scene played... Yet I felt... happy because Zack won't have to put up with that $*** anymore... and sad because he was shot down! And got shot in the HEAD too! Damn you Shinra!

You know what the problem is? I played this game knowing that Zack was going to die, but then after all the sh*t they had been through and then BAM this comes up, it's impossible to cry... it's an inevitable fate that I hoped to avoid. I think that this scene might have made me cry a little more than the ending, but I'm not too sure. Both were unbelievably sad, and I couldn't stop crying by the time I finished the game... T.T RIP Zack....

yeah that's what everyone thinks but right when your trying to leave nibelheim and the soldiers try to take cloud, at the end of the battle zack says "why am i having trouble with these guys?" meaning that he's lost a lot of his fighting power due to being in the basement of the mansion for 4 years

Actually, I take back part of my last comment. I had a slight clue that zack would die cuz i didn't hear about him in ff7. When I saw the DMW images fading though, I then realized the horrible truth. I remember that when I realized this, I fought SO HARD to keep zack from dying. And yet...it all meant nothing! I still fight hard when I go through the game which'll be every year

This is the saddest scene I've ever seen in a game. I cried during the whole fight, I tried to win desparately, but then more and more memories faded and in the end I had to watch Zack die...I couldn't stop sobbing during the whole ending, you know the GCI (?) cutscene with Cloud. I tried to play out the entire fight (thinking it would end, but knowing it wouldnt till zack was dead) Id say i was in it for at least 45 mins and when i finally noticed what was going on with the memories I pretty much just lettem kill me right then and there. I lost memories alot slower when i played it seemed.

Beautiful. The time you hear "Activating Combat Mode", and are completely sucked into the game. After the crap that was DoC, its awesome to see a game that does VII some justice.
