Islam came into existence around 6th AD and then Muhammed copied some teachings from Jewish religious literature and christian Scriptures and formed another religion called Islam. It was the God of Jews or Israel and today Christians who prohibited idolatory not Islam. Christianity came into existence about 600 years before Islam was propagated.

Law could not save them from their sinful nature and no matter whatever Law God gave to them, they were not able to help themselves. So God raised many prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel etc. to warn them and to make them repent from their sin time to time. But since Israelites were still could not help their sin.

And that Messiah was Jesus, the second person of the Holy Trinity who paid the price for our sins.So now Jews don't have to live with Torah anymore, but in His grace through Jesus.

Without grace we are helpless from sin. We are not like Muslims who follow God externally e.g our Muhammad wore a long robe and a small hat so we should also wear that. We follow what Jesus taught us to do.Jesus was circumcised as a Jew, because He did not discard the Jewish traditon given by God.

Because now they were to live by grace not Law. So now everyone who gets redeemed through the blood of Jesus, becomes the child of God and he does not have to live by Law but by the relationship with the God as Father and we as His children. So we don't need anymore circumcision. We need circumcision of our hearts in Jesus.
