@MrPokemonfan231 WOW - thanks for sharing your story with us - it just goes to show you that so long as you have a good drag system and you know how to fight a fish, it is very possible to land much bigger fish on lighter line.
Thanks again for sharing and good luck on the water!
@NCAAaddict Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for tuning in. You can tip your buck tails with squid, as that is very effective, but here, Ivo was just suing the buck tails as is.
Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!
@XxsneakybastardxX To avoid catching porgys and are bottom fishing, you need to move away from the area where they are. Also, don't use small pieces of bait - use big baits instead - especially for flounder. Fish using different methods such as casting, jigging, or even fish suspended. Remember, progys are a bottm fish therefore fishing suspended will definitly not catch them & you will have a great chance of getting blues or even stripers!
@Xposia1 Rag worm will work for sea bass but you will most likely catsh the smaller ones. For larger fish, try bucktail jigs, squid, small crabs, cut-bait. Thanks & good luck on the water.
@MrJoker4212 We do keep some fish for the dinner table but we also release many times. Thanks for showing your concern on conservation & good fishing to you!
@pamerganser We do carry a scale on the boat and have weighed some of the bigger ones. We did weigh some males at over six pounds. Thanks & good fishing!
@yankees2010nyy Try fishing for them during the end of May or early June and concentrate on areas of 20 - 30 feet deep. They must be there, so keep looking...once you find them, mark that spot & work it good.
@chevynatoor There may be a chance of catching mackerel from a pier but not so much bonito. Small spoons will work. Cast the spoon and quickly retrieve. You may also use a mackerel rig. Just add a 1 oz. bell sinker, cast & retrieve. Thanks!
@bigghitta5 You will catch them this big in May and early June. We made a trip this year during the 1st week of June and did fantastic.
Try fishing in Buzzards bay, closer to the mouth of the canal. The area between North Falmouth & Marion center is good - concentrate on 20 - 28 feet deep and you are certain to get into them.
We love fishing in Buzzards bay - it is a lot of fun. Maybe we'll see you out there next year!
Howare you guys catching sea bass on bucktails... I live on long island and we fish on our boat on north shore and we never catch sea bass on bucktails
@XXXDarkdizXXX Try casting spoons & spinners. For float fishing, have a float, some spitshots to add to the line under the float and a streamer fly or roe bag. Good luck!
@XXXDarkdizXXX One good set-up is a 3-way set-up with roe bags. This method can be used for drifting from a boat, bottom bouncing in current from shore or still fishing in current. Float fishing from shore is also effective using a float, split-shot(s) & roe bag.
You may also troll with body baits or spoons - a downrigger will help.
@XXXDarkdizXXX You may also try spinners, streamer flies, soft plastic minnows or real minnows, whole nightcrawlers, white curlytail grubs on a jig head. Thanks!
Went on the patriot too today a great day of fishing a little crowded but still great only 4 keepers which is a low compared to other trips I've been on but tons of action fish over the rails every minute
may i know what is the best time to visit cape cod ma.for sea bass fishing and what the size limit and how many?what party boats are the best for sea bass fishing.thank u and God bless.enjoy fishing
@striperhooks Best time for seabass is mid May to first week of June. Fish in Buzzards bay near the canal. For sizes & limits, please check recreational saltwater fishing regulations for Mass. Since we are not from the area, we do not know about party boats available.
Please contact a tackle shop in the Buzzards Bay area as they will be able to help you. Good luck!
I would love to go fishing with you guys. I spent about $100 on VP and Boa, and havent had a chance to go on a boat, All i want is seabass. Is that a boat that you guys charge for a party, or this is something that you guys experiencing with the Viper Spoons?
@Redsoxxx927 Sorry, but we do not have a charter service. We hope that you will be able to fish for sea bass as they are very tastey. The lures that you have will work on seabass- you can rest assured. One thing to keep in mind while targetting seabass is to make sure that you position your lures 2 feet or less off bottom. Hope you get out there!
@wilsoncampos8 There are many types of rods but it's best for you to go to your local tackle shop where the staff will be able to help you choose a proper rod (rods) for the fish that you would be targetting. Thanks for your inquiry. Good fishing!
@smoothcriminal997 You can give it a try, but the Viper Spoon is specifically designed to accommodate bait, so a regular spoon may not give you the same action, once you add bait.
The Viper spoon with it's multiple hook design and single strand titanium wire line, is the perfect combination.
@smoothcriminal997 All spoons will catch fish. With the Viper Spoon, you would have the option of putting bait on the hook harness which may help to entice a fish into striking. In this case, the shine, the action and the bait all play a roll. Thanks for your inquiry & good fishing!
@xxTommy2tonexx Considering that the state record where Ivo was fishing was 8lbs for black sea bass, some of the fish that he caught were over 6 lbs. Thanks for your comment & good fishing!

hey guys i want to make a trip out to this location for my father. He loves this video and would like to know the exact location of this fishing ground. any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.
@Redsoxxx927 Sizes SP1, SP2, SP3 & SP4 will all work for sea bass, and we like to use the SP3 or SP4 for the bigger ones.
When rigged with a strip of squid, or an artificial worm, the sea bass seem to really attack the Viper Spoons. IF we had to pick one size, we would go with the SP3
what is the best fishing pole, not for baitcasting, but for catching decent sized bass in rivers and lakes? i need a fishing pole for a large lake that is behind my house, and i know it is crawling with bass. i have caught a decent sized one, but i need a fishing pole that can go far and deep. shakespeare is good? or ugly stick?
Yes Viper spoons work excellent for flounder & blues. Check out our fishing tips site for tips on how to set- up the Viper Spoon for these fish. In short, for blues you may just flat line your Viper. For flounder, use a 3-way bottom drift method. Again, this imformation will be given on our site which will help you.
We have caught toutog on SP1, SP2 & SP3 size Vipers (because of the smaller hooks). We baited the Vipers using clam or small artificial eels.
We have also caught them in sea bass zones where there was no structure around. Mind you, we caught them in early spring and they were probably migrating at that time. We did catch some nice ones. You're right about them taking your bait & heading for cover. Normally these fish like some kind of structure to hide in. Thanks for writing & good fishing!
well that makes sense if they had the clam or eels. i thought you guys were talking plain spoons. Tog will occasionally bite a minnow or something like that, but they usually stick to crustaceans.
Glad to.TIP1 Drift from a boat(bring your bait to them-they wait for food).TIP2 Cut-bait(fish)or squid will outfish artificials.TIP3 Keep bait about12" off bottom.TIP4 Use lager baits.A proven lure for flounder is the Viper spoon which is ment to be used with bait.Try a 3-way set-up
(30"leader to viper,14" drop-line to sinker).
Bait Viper with whole squid or 12-14"long cut-bait strip.TIP5 Re-drift many times in productive zones. For more info&videos see Thundermist Fishing Tips. Good fishing!
You guys should come out to the west coast and try your lures out on some big lingcod. It seems like they might work well for some of our deep water rockfish too.
We would love to come to the west coast & fish for ling cod, rockfish & halibut as well...and we most certainly will some day!
That would be an amazing trip for us & we know the Viper Spoons would work great for these species.
We are actually working on obtaining sponsors for our new, upcoming TV fishing show & should we do so, this would be one of the first trips on our calendar.
Thanks for writing in & we wish you all the best on the water & good fishin'!

@ts1771 Which charter boat would you recommend for sea bass fishing?

Can you use these spoon in inlet areas for flounder and blues?
MrGloomis 2 years ago
Yes Viper spoons work excellent for flounder & blues. Check out our fishing tips site for tips on how to set- up the Viper Spoon for these fish. In short, for blues you may just flat line your Viper. For flounder, use a 3-way bottom drift method. Again, this imformation will be given on our site which will help you.
Thanks for asking & good fishing!

Would you mind giving me some tips on flounder fishing plz
fwaandrew 3 years ago

It seems like they might work well for some of our deep water rockfish too.
theoregonguy 3 years ago
We would love to come to the west coast & fish for ling cod, rockfish & halibut as well...and we most certainly will some day!
That would be an amazing trip for us & we know the Viper Spoons would work great for these species.
We are actually working on obtaining sponsors for our new, upcoming TV fishing show & should we do so, this would be one of the first trips on our calendar.
Thanks for writing in & we wish you all the best on the water & good fishin'!
