  • Found your version by accident Maureen, 'twas my good fortune to do so! Always loved the song. You have a wonderful voice, your name isn't well known it's a shame I think. I will listen to your other songs here on YT.. I have no idea when this was done but it really sounds great. Wish I could sing like you, if only for a day! :) Regards, Tinsby

  • @Tinsby Maureen is well known in this part of Ireland!

  • Maureen, this has been one of my favorite songs for decades but I only discovered your version this fine day. I'm blown away. I have played it over and over and over. I can hardly get enough of your angellic voice delivering up such a heavenly gift. I guess this is what it's like to have an addiction. What a beautiful thing I have found here.

  • I left a message on your channel. I hope you received it. Something else occurs to me. The information I received was on the website of 'The Irish Times' Just in case you do not have any satisfaction with google.

  • extra info:Mary Sheridan,LP An Irish Concert, probably 50 years ago with songs like On the road to Ballyshee,The old turf fire,Trottin to the fair,Green glens of Antrim etc,she was a mezzo soprano who still sang in 1966 on Irish Radio with Radio Eireann Orchestra, found on internet she attended funeral Joseph Locke in 1999.Wonder if she is still alive and if so,where (Ireland?)Thanks again as from here (Holland) impossible to trace, even with internet.Maybe your network(!)does the trick, thanks

  • Compliments from the Netherlands, wish we had only a quarter of the beautiful songs you have there! We are "killed" by TMF -MTV and melodies are no longer essential and traditionals are forgotten.Thank God I have hundreds of Irish(and Scotiish) LP's of long ago.Which reminds me:Maureen,as an expert in folk song tradition,do you know if the old Irish singer Mary Sheridan is still alive,if so,she must be far in her eighties.I bought an LP back in 1966,a USA LP abt 1960,rings a bell? Thanks.

  • A beautiful version of one of my favorite songs from my youth in the 1940's. You have a beautiful voice! I've always been partial to anything Irish. Thanks for posting!

  • Hi Maureen, I live in nyc and surely everyone knows about this wonderful place to visit. So tell me, what is it like to live in Ireland...........

  • @williewillnick Gloccamorra is not any place in Ireland. The song was written for the film "Finian's Rainbow" and Gloccamorra is a make believe beautiful place. Anyway there are many beautiful places in Ireland and living here is like living anywhere else in the world.......there is good and bad but it is home....I might add more good than bad!!

  • What an absolutely wonderful voice singing this great song and the pictures make it even more special.

  • @daily5 /Thank you for your lovely comment.

  • BothBOTH my gramas... the Nottingham one and the Ireland one ... both... sang this lovely song... and "Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral"... too. EndearinglyWonderful, to me, until I was a very Big "Boy"... like about NOWadays! Marvelous sounds, from dear Dear Gramas ... and Mamas, too. Hugs to you, Maureen. Thank you. -Johnny.

  • This was my Irish grandma's favorite song, and it brings a tear to my eye. Beautiful job singing.

  • @jimb50 Thank you.

  • Is she asking each lad that comes a whistling "to relay" or something else?

  • @Janiqua ... Dear Janiqua ... Such a dear person you are, to even care about this lovely old song... and its Lyrics... The singer "asks each weeping willow... and each lad that comes a whistin's -- "Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral"... " Those are the quiet and sweet lyrics that so many folks... Mamas and Daddys... sing to their babies... in Ireland... "Too Ra..." etc... is also, simply, a whistle-able tune that so many people do whistle. Lovely, don't you think? HUG to you, Janiqua. -Jony.

  • beautiful song exquisitely sung.

  • @smgwonder Thank you for your lovely comment.

  • @maureenderry

Do you have any more songs you can post? They made all this fuss about Susan Boyle. Your voice is much better.

  • @smgwonder have posted over 100 videos. If you apply to be my friend you can see all of them.

  • Maureen, your version of this song embodies everything wonderful about Ireland. Your voice is legendary. Timeless. Classic. Eternal. Great joy and inspiration. Thank you.

  • this is awesome...im singing this in show choir, we're doing a broadway medley, and this is fantastic(:

  • Maureen, You have an amazing voice!! I could have sworn I just heard an angel! If you are at all and actor you should try out for a production of Finnian's Rainbow. If not then you should make a CD with you singing all sorts of beautiful show songs. You are truely one of the most beautiful singers I have ever heard! Love Always, littlemisstheater

  • Sorry, there are a few typos. I was just so moved!!

  • So tell me Maureen, I am a senior citizen from nyc, what is it like to live in Ireland?

  • It would take a long time to answer that. All I can say is that I would not like to live anywhere else.

  • That would take a long time to answer. I can only say I would not like to live anywhere else.

  • Simply gorgeous ~ thank you!

  • A definite favourite I do so love this song

  • So glad you like it. I haven't sung it for a while.

  • Thank you for this lovely song,

I remember seeing '' Finian's Rainbow'' in Dublin in 1957. Jimmy O'Dea played the part of the Finian. This song plucks at the strings of my heart.

  • Thank you for commenting

  • So very lovely. A different place, a different time.

  • Thank y ou for your lovely comment. I have just had a look at your channel. ....I have been to San Francisco a couple of times...singing . Beautiful City.

  • Come again, Maureen. San Francisco has a large Irish community that seems to grow larger all the time.

  • what a beautiful voice you have...it takes me back to the west coast of ireland in the 60's..wonderful days..erin go bragh

  • Thank you......West Coast of Ireland...one of the most beautiful places in the world.

  • Made me cry with happiness.Reminds me of a beautiful summer as a child in the early 1960's, when my darling parents were still here.

  • Thank you. What would we do without the old songs....even though this is not an Irish song .

  • Interesting version of that song along with the video. If he were still around, what potential quality of a performance could be done if you did a duet with Bing Crosby. As far as I know, Bing just did an audio of the song during his time. If he had had the chance to do a video, what potential permormance could have been done.

  • You have mastered the inarticulate speech of the heart...thank you!

  • Such a lovely comment ....thankyou

  • Just magical...

  • Thank y ou.

  • Beautiful voice. Thanks for downloading.

  • My pleasure, Glad you liked it.

  • Maureen Darlin...I awoke this morning with How are things in Glocca Mora spinning around in my brain...and you here brought it more than alive to me...thank you...Leo

  • Thank you for your lovely comment. Maureen

  • One of my all time favorite songs done extremely well. What a nice voice. Anyone ever tell you how you sound like Judy Collins? I hope you take that as a compliment...it was meant as one. I would love to hear you singing this song with a real orchestra. Very well done!

  • Thank you. I have recorded this some time ago with an orchestra. It was for a programmme on BBC Radio but I do not have a copy which I could post on Youtube.

  • YEs, Maureen...i have also saved the Green glens...and will listen to more.:) wonderful voice!

  • beautiful video and this is the first time i heard you sing.....I love it! PAUL

  • Thank you and I hope you enjoy some of my other songs. Maureen

  • Beautiful! Happy St. Patrick's Day! I had a cousin when I was a child, who had a farm that she called GloccaMorra. Not only is this a beautiful song but it brings back many grand memories.

  • Thank you. Good to know I can help recall good memories.

  • Oh Maureen, you have brought tears to my eyes! Good singers always pick good songs to sing. What a lovely voice you have singing this absolutely wonderful song, and to think your from Ireland also. Finians Rainbow..such a very special movie musical.

  • Thank you. You are very kind.

  • Beautiful voice and a great song. Thanks for the beauty.

  • Thank you. So glad you enjoyed it.

  • Hello,Maureen-san

You sang this song? Great voice!!!

    And the photos are wonderful.

Someday I 'd like to make my photo-video like this.

I took a lot of photos of Utah,Arizona,Oregon US.And they are increasing every year.

Thanks for your great songs and great landscape.

  • That's me indeed. Thanks for your comment. I was able to make the videos with Windows Movie Maker. If you have windows you should be able to use it.

  • Simply Beautiful Maureen!!!

    =)

  • Happy New Year to all of you.

  • Lovely rendition, you would have given Petula Clark a run for her money, Petula made this song famous, and our old friend bmcneese mentions John Gary, John had an amazing voice.

The Irish were always puzzled about the source of that `little brook`, it started in Killybegs and meandered all the way to Kildare, there was poetic licence for you.

  • I had a wee laugh reading your comment. I always think it funny the way that stream covered such a distance!! As you know it is not an Irish song at all but it is very popular. It was written for the show "Finian's Rainbow". A very Happy New Year to you too.

  • Thats was wonderful Maureen, thank you.

  • Beautiful Maureen. One of my very favorites. Why is it I always think of the first time I ever heard a song I really like? This one I first heard many years ago by John Gary on his "Irish Album".

  • È bellissimo! Brava Mauren.

  • Thank you. There is so little live work now that I don't get to sing all these lovely songs.

  • Hello Maureen

This song is simply beautiful and beautfifully sung; It's also gratifying to see some of my images being put to good use.

I hope you haven't got me too hooked on this site, my wife thinks my photography takes up too much of my time now!

Best wishes and a happy New Year,

    Chris

  • Hi Chris..I cannot believe you got in before I sent this to you and before I had completed my description of the video. The pictures are beautiful and suit the song so well...I hope you agree. I must admit to being addicted myself. You wife would enjoy it I am sure..just type in her favourite singer in the search box.

  • I'm back again. Forgot to wish you and your wife a Happy New Year.
