Domingo is probably my biggest inspiration, as a singer and just generally as a person. He is a gift to the world, a miracle, and i think this video explains exactly why. Thanks so much for putting it up here.

Sissel's commentary from around 7:20 is interesting. What she is describing is what happens when you stop listening to the sound of your voice and totally immerse yourself in the 'story' unfolding. When you put the story & composer first and the voice second; when you do the one thing - 'tell the story', the composer pays you back with more life and ease to the voice. As she progressed through the song you could hear more fullness in her voice as she let go more and immersed her heart in it.

Well, I liked it, and I don't even listen to opera. I noticed it helps when the microphones are good. I listened to other Sissel songs and sometimes when she hits high notes the speakers seem to rasp slightly. This was a studio recording so obviously the best equipment is used, as well as the acoustics being optimal. Excellent on the part of both singers.

Placido Domingo is my favourite. I watched him perform some years ago with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras about the time of Midsummer. It was one of my life's fantastic moments.

Sissel is my life's most fantastic lady. Her singing of Soria Moria is my life's guideline. I compare her to this american soprano whose name I can't remember now right now... SHIT!!! Kiri TeKanawa!!!!

@medioism Kiri is actually Maori (from New Zealand) but you're right, she is one of only a few operatic sopranos with a voice as beautiful as Sissel's.

Siempre que puedo escucho a Domingo con la esperanza de comprobar el por que lo consideran "tan bueno, el mejor"? y pocas veces lo justifico. Fué bueno, voz bella y varonil pero eso fue hace tiempo, a veces lo es pero comete fallas ,queda claro en varias interpretacione que están en estas páginas, sus sus admiradores lo pasan por alto. The word "golden" popped into my head at the end of the song.

I know what Sissel meant when she said she felt like Placido was singing directly to her, out of a stadium full of people. That is one of his gifts: he "sings from the eyes," and his face tells YOU the story, even if you don't understand the words sung in another language.

She, of course, has the purest voice ever, and the two voices blended exquisitely, while the conductor and orchestra seemed to be loving it all. It. Was. Golden!
