  • what stacato technique - bueno!!! The piece is so-so. Must be the earlie one of Kapustin - my country man... never heard that one- thanks for posting

  • I had this on in my headphones at work and was jamming out at my desk. My coworker next to me was like, "Good song?" I replied, "Hell yeah!" He came over for a listen and the look on his face was priceless! :)

  • what's the difference between a toccatina and a toccata

  • This composition is in the style of a Negro Spiritual; very creative indeed.

  • Mmmmmm.. just discovered Kapustin... Brilliant.. the skill adn detail adn divercity of classical composition with the soul of funk, a heart of the blues and the mental fire of jazz... a potent cocktail

  • Wild about this! The composition, the pianist--just fantastic in every way.

Hamelin may be the go-to-guy for Kapustin. Go-to-girl is Yeol Eum Son.:-)))

  • Toccatina Op. 36 by Nikolai Kapustin (composed 1983) has a catchy tune indeed, and this toccatina is performed excellent enough to lighten the spirits up of a sad listener.....

  • If there is a heaven, it is Hamelin sat in a jazz bar playing stuff like this...

  • I LOVE THIS!

  • It's awesome how Hamelin's playing is so faithful to the written score! Very high accuracy, I love it!

  • This would be so fun to play!!! Where did you find the sheet music for it?

  • @LongDriveChamp03 i have the sheet music if u want it, just inbox me

  • danke

  • I had a profane thought. You know, Hamelin is a monster and Kapustin is a giant of piano music. Kapustin uses a jazz alphabet without any trace of improvisation, and Hamelin plays this piece accordingly. Then while listening I stopped for a split-second and thought: what a marvel this would sound under the hands of a true jazz pianist, with less mechanical and more joyful flow. It wouldn't sound Hamelinesque any more, it would be less Kapustin but what a real treat.

  • @OrbiliusMagister Egads! Seize the Hamelin scorner! Just joking~ :P Yes, you do have an interesting point. Hamelin's accentuation of rhythm was always a bit humble, if only in jazz music. This would sound very different in the hands of, say, O. Peterson? Wouldn't that be a treat......

  • @OrbiliusMagister who has Keith Jarretts phone number?

  • this is

    a

    LITTLE

    fast.

  • @Piggywarz Well, the tempo marking is minim=120... What do you expect?

  • wow.....man should i say??? This is fantastic a masterwork.....how long play you piano?

  • @NewEquinoxProduction It's hamelin who is playing.
