I remember watching this with my older brother and sister when I was in grade 6 in Canada. Those were the days when the whole family would sit around a TV and watch entertainment specials. Different from today. Anyways, we were mesmerized, fascinated and just couldn't stop talking about this performance. It was a revelation. The next day at school while walking to morning class, all the kids were already on the yard trying to emulate the moonwalk. None were successful...no had VCR's.

I have never been a Michael Jackson fan and I'm not going to lie. Back in my day it was the Jackson 5 fans and the Osmond fans. Not saying you couldn't be both but most people were one or the other in those days. As a result I was never really followed Michael Jackson other than when I had to yell at one of my boys to turn their stereo down. After watching this video however, all I can say is WOW. I was 14 when Motown 25 aired. I had always been a Michael Jackson fan but was blown away by this performance. Truly there will never be another performer to grace the earth like Michael Jackson. He can never be duplicated or imitated. I would never have thought twenty something years later his life would have such a tragic ending. He had it all, looks, talent & personality. Yes, he lipsynched during "Billie Jean" eventhough he sang entirely live during the Jackson 5 medley. Lip synched or not, I can't think of too many performances that were as iconic or talked about. Almost 30 years later and we're still talking about this performance. Michael's moves were so precise and it was the first time he did the moonwalk on national tv I believe. It was a superb performance. Michael was so charismatic and talented. I miss him. No one else like him.
