Please tell me the technique for dry brushing..I recently started these kits up again and I just hand painted them. They look ok but I'd like to add alot more detail...
Wow the paint detail is amazing, so is your video presentation. I have all of the Aurora kits built. Every time I think i did the best paint job on my monster model, somebody comes along and shows me up!!!!!!! Just beautiful models. I'll keep mine till i die.
@monk22yrs Famous Monsters of Filmland was THEE favorite mag' to buy as a kid....well that is next to MAD. But I'm glad you mentioned it. It was so chock full of cool pictures and stories.
great show! You are an awesome modeller! I enjoy the video- feels like Im hanging out in a basement as a kid making models and watching monster movies on tv at the same time. I hope to find an episode you did with monster models with the glow in the dark faces and hands. I think they came out in the late 60s/early 70s when I was about 5 yrs old. A lot of my friends had them-
I still have my Monster Models...Love Them, for anyone who might like to buy the Re-issue's,try EBay,their not cheap, But they come as they were sold in the 60's.
@harveydents Dip brush lightly in paint, wipe most paint off on a clean rag and then swizzle the brush LIGHTLY around on your model letting the minute pigments settle on the raised details ONLY.....For in depth view just search "How To" videos here on youtube (Obvious choice, aehh?)!!!
this era of these models was probably the best years of my life. I remember how spooky and exciting it was....and I just LOVED the art work on the boxes. I remembered our local "F.W. Woolworth" store had a large display of models and these were the "featured ones". "Famous Monsters Magazine" even had a building contest. Kids had their models on display in woolworth's display window.....it was just great !!!

The Mummy was the most fun to do paint 'experimentation' with. I did alot of wiping off and repainting to give him the old worn look. Life is good

these kits used to cost 99 cents each.
and if the stores didn't have them, the magazine FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND sold them.

@wastemgmt07 and now those 50 cents magazines cost at least $20 on amazon/ebay.
FM magazine back when magazine shops, and the stores that sold models, had wooden racks and shelves, not plastic or metal.

Knowing the story (from Famous Monsters) on why they used green makeup on karloff, it makes persfect sense NOT to do the Monster in green face.
