If any Neal Morse fans here haven't done so already, I highly recommend checking t his book Testimony. It is a rather short book, but very enjoyable and revealing as well.
The more I listen to SB...the more I realize how great this band was, is, are. I only "discovered" them in the early 2000's. I am going back and watching a lot of the older videos and purchasing some of their older music as well as their current.
My friend is talking about The Light. For those that don't know what The Light is: Pure Truth, LOVE plain and simple. Hard for many to accept. All you have to do is accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior John 3:16 What do you have to lose? Your soul? Your friends will laugh as they fall into hell. You want proof? Google" Escape From Hell" to see how easy it is to not be ruined for eternity.
People criticize christianity because it touches a fragile part in everyone's heart: the truth of a hole in our hearts. It's not about Morse converting, but the hidden truth which some can't catch still, it's ignorance. I'm not judging, but I'm trying to waking up the comment-judges here on youtube. Leave your post for yourself before you judge about what someone should or shouldn't.
This about this album however, great as it is, I think that that the "Water" track never really caught on, same deal on the V album, with "At the End of The Day" being incredibly beautiful, but "The Great Nothing", being all right, dosen't really live up to it's standard.
@FireLinkAnime Glad to hear it....and may prog live long after all of the light has faded. Capitalism, conformity, complacency and greed will not force us from existance. We will not go quietly!!!
A classic if I ever saw one. Spock's Beard still rule, but Neal Morse was the real genius. Being a prog-head is awesome, makes me feel good compared to those stupid commercial music fans.
ive got tickets for transatlantic at shepherds bush,my 1st time seening neil morse and i will be up the front.love spocks but to see the morse geezzer up front will be wanking material!
Many people criticize Morse for being now a Christian . But do not realized yet that he only discovered he was a Christian. Many of his lyrics was about searching for light and truth. Even in Transatlantic . Nobody asks about Jon Anderson lyrics with new age thematic . Nor with the atheist vision of Rush .
@ZeroWhiteNothing I don't criticise Neil Morse for being a Christian but I don't think his lyrics suit the prog style of SB and Transatlantic. Jon Anderson's lyrics weren't about anything in particular and complemented the music perfectly. Neil Morse's lyrical ideas can occasionally drag the music down to the level of happy clappy Sunday morning in the pews.
@GrindlayPro1 Well so you must forget the solo album of Rick Wright Broken China ( with a different style of Pink Floyd( my favorite band) , and also dislike the works of the genius Rick Wakeman ( a Christian). And if you see The Revealing Science of God by Yes , it is all about religious issues . And about " happy clappy Sunday morning in the pews", Gentle Giant is totally this( listen Friends), and it is one of my 5 favorite progressive bands . Anyway Progressive can´t be like Death/Grind.
@ZeroWhiteNothing (The Yes bootleg you refer to is just that, it isn't part of the official Yes catalog). Rick Wakeman is one of my heroes and so is Bach, who claimed to have been inspired by religion but then so did every other composer of his era - he simply followed the prevailing Zeitgeist of his times. Progressive *can* be like Death, have a listen to Opeth, probably the best Progressive Metal band of our times.
@GrindlayPro1 So , what´s the matter ? The issue religion should not be a reason for something be faced as strange .Why only when the issue is Christianism we need to hear critics ? And about Bands talking about murdering , raping corpses ? When i mentioned death / Grind was to tell about the need of these styles of speaking about material things ( I particularly enjoy these styles ). But Prog has no formula . It is about the truth inside , in what the musician believe.this is my opinion.
@GrindlayPro1 Tales from Topographic Oceans is the yes 6° album after close to the edge and before Relayer . And this song The Revealing Science of God ,is in it !! It is not "just that", friend .
@ZeroWhiteNothing I agree. I'm agnostic and even though I don't believe in the judeo-christian god I respect people's right to believe in one, as long as they don't want to push their religion down my throat. I love Neal's solo music... lyrics are just lyrics. If I want to listen to the lyrics that get through to me I listen to Pink Floyd
@jordanowen42 I think that the fact of Neal leaving the band in the success age, means that Neal is a fantastic person and true with his feelings and also very mature. If he was an idiot he would do as Roger waters did with Pink Floyd, trying to force the band to follow his convictions . But Morse knew that this walk was his , and he should be as honest as possible with himself and with his fans .
@xylametazolin The gaga´s fans never pay attention to the meaning of things , only in the "Music" . But what is the music if not the sum of the experiences of the musician . The peoples that just pay attention to the music are stupid listeners of sounds.
frankly i'm surprised that anyone who likes prog could like only prog, because prog is pretty much one of the broadest genres, and you can hear it in most other genres, so why not like them too?

It should be for everyone, but most morons would rather listen to Britney, 50, and all the other garbage music out there...that was his point.
@scalefish And mate...like I said, I like your wishful thinking, but I just looked up the best selling albums in Australia in the year 2010...it was junk like Lady Gaga...Eminem...Pink....Boyle...etc.. Don't be silly again.
@xraycat30 uh, well when you said 'the rest of the world' I thought you meant 'the world' - I doubt that Lady Gaga gets much airtime in India. Or Africa. In Australia, sure. But the biggest seeling Australian albums are Country. There's different charts for country and it's hard to calculate what the biggest sellers are.
Still it's certainly true that prog doesn't get much of run, which is a shame as there's some good stuff in the genre.
As a matter of fact SB used to have 2 keyboards AND 2 guitars, as Neal on records played also the electric guitar (though he indeed focused on the acoustic one), so we might say that SB had 2 keys and 1 1/2 guitar :D
(And don't forget that Neal wrote ALL music, including his brother's guitar lines ;) )
Check out The Flower Kings' Bablyon. There has to be 5 keyboard tracks on that song. It is a mystical adventure and it's beautiful. Also check out Theme For A Hero.

okay, I see where you're going with that..and Alan Morse looks kind of like Chris Jericho from WWE in this vid. This is my favorite Spock's Beard tune as well.
uhm, you know theres a MESSAGING SYSTEM? ya know, for having conversations with people...so you don't have to hold them on the board of a video that the conversation doesnt pertain to at all.
Spock's beard is incredible, this video is a classic....I love when neil goes "party noises.....HE HEEE"
just to be straight with you cokguzel,I'm 29 years old and I'm only looking for a nice conversation, you know and i think you are very nice person to talk with me.

okay, I see where you're going with that..and Alan Morse looks kind of like Chris Jericho from WWE in this vid. This is my favorite Spock's Beard tune as well.
xraycat30 3 years ago
hmm.. yeah kind of, except unlike jericho, alan does not look like he takes it in the ass and not quite as strong either.

uhm, you know theres a MESSAGING SYSTEM? ya know, for having conversations with people...so you don't have to hold them on the board of a video that the conversation doesnt pertain to at all.
Spock's beard is incredible, this video is a classic....I love when neil goes "party noises.....HE HEEE"

Listen old sport, do try to make an effort at sounding half way coherent while posting a comment, there's a good chap.
You see dissembling this belatedly conveyed epistle with the latest juvenile jargon might be all the rage with your local fairy ring.
I however, admittedly havent got a frickin' notion what you're on about.
