yogurt, would it be possible for u to make a simple comparison between the plexitone and the box of rock. i'm thinkin of gettin' either of them but just can't decide which one to buy.. and everybody else here is also welcome to tell their experience of the two..
distortion pedals are for dumbasses. dont buy the amp if u dont like the way it sounds always use a compressor and an eq and u can fine tune what u already enjoy
@stringbreaker6 let me guess, you have a 58 bassman and a 57 lp right, playin your stupid tired old blues riffs or maybe some boston huh? pedals are for the enlightened and educated, people thinkin outside ur mainstream, bullshit tone purists
mehh i suppose i notice a slight difference but no where near enough to justify a price increase like that. Even if money isnt an issue youd be a twat to ignore the DS-1. failing that, get the Speedbox.
An AnalogMan DS-1 is $105 compared to a new Plexi for $258. However, the Plexi has 3 channels - DS-1 only one. The Plexi can also be used as a clean boost, by just selecting the Boost channel without the Drive engaged. So, really - It's 3 pedals - And divide that by the price, and it's $86 each pedal.
5 minutes ago I bought a used (mint) Plexi for $159 from Guitar Center. That's $53 per pedal...heheh.
Great demo! Thanks man. The MI Audio Crunch box sounds insane! The Analog Man Boss-DS1 also sounds very good, but I think it would benefit a lot from extra mids with the optional midrange knob. What do you think? I also have a Maxon OD-9/808/silver, will it combine good with the DS-1?
nice demo. The Nanohead sounds great! But so does the Boss & the Plexitone, I guess for metal the boss would be more my thing. But what does that Analogmod mean, in comparisson with a stock DS1?
Cool demo actually...still trying to decide between Box of Rock and Plexitone?? Anyone?

Where on earth did you find that crunch box pedal?!?!?

@1984corbindallas That's right. Pedals are for the enlightened. I eviscerate the wives and daughters of purist snobs as they watch helplessly.

i don't know the hi-hat sounds a little clearer with the plexi

can anyone tell the difference (shut your eyes) between the DS-1 and the Plexi?
And be honest.
jamesstone123 2 years ago
Two way different pedals, yes.
Rowan2 2 years ago
i still cant hear any difference.
jamesstone123 2 years ago
yes, the plexi sounds just a bit hotter than the ds1, but it subtle
miniman06070 2 years ago
mids are more scooped like with the mesa boogie famous sound...thats what i hear....
jashobbsie 2 years ago
@jamesstone123 Yes - The Plexi sounds clearer and tighter overall.

you must have amazingly good ears and an amazingly good sound card to pick up on that

@jamesstone123 Naaa... although I am listening with headphones.

mehh i build my own - its far easier to buy a speedbox or a DS-1 standard for around $50 and then buy or make an lpb-1 for around $10.
Much easier i think.
Plus, i doubt youd find a use for all 3 channels.

....Really....? Light crunch, heavy crunch, and solo boost or clean boost? Na... no on would have use for that.... LOL.

plexi tone or crunch box

PlexiTone!! all the way... stock box with all the selection and EQing... the Winner!!

when you are aggregating your pedals the result is always individual. its more at your option whether you like it not.

To me, Mi Audio pedal is the best about balance in bass, middle (very nice ones) and treble.
