Actually its happened to me and OH my GOD my mind just went blank and like holy SHIT :O!! its the way he flutters around on the bike that looks silly and the impending doom that makes it hilarious
people who think this is funny have no idea how fast this corner is or how dangerous it is goin down bray hill. its fuckin FAST!!!!!!!!!!!! 160MPH+ ON A BIG BIKE, wouldnt be funny there watchin it lol, i watched at the bottom of bray hill for the first time this year. you need balls just to watch it as well as take part in it
twist of the wrist 2 SR, do not hold on tightly when a tank slapper occurs. keep your hands loose and the bike will fix its self, it wants to stay upright due to motion. soon as you hold on tight the slapper is transferred through the bike making it worse just like this guy did if you watch the slapper starts out minor and becomes worse because he death gripped. He could have easily prevented this.
@moosejuice2107 Yeah dampers help to resist it, but its where he is going to fast and the front tyre is so light that as soon as it hits a slight bump the bike then starts to shake.
@TheGuyFromLastNight yea no kidding im deathly afraid of this happening on the freeway...them semi's cant stop all that good...my friend was killed in that exact way...head shake threw him off and he was killed by a semi that could not stop in time RIP william. fuck who finds this funny.
@TheGuyFromLastNight yeah, seriously. I was in one of these crashes last summer... if I hadn't been wearing gear, I would have literally DIED. on a side note: broken legs hurt like crap
That happened to me on a highway, except I hit the rear of a suv. Went through the trunk door and layed in the trunk until the ambulance arrived. I was conscious and was making jokes because my shoes had flew off. " Has anyone seen my shoes, I seemed to have kicked them off in a fit of joy!" lol now that's comedy!
Yep - nothing to do but get yourself away from the bike & owt else hard.. that bit when everything slows down in stages & then speeds back up as you hit the deck... lol
he did a good job holding on as long as possible before giving up. I suspect this was to get the speed down or at least hold it long enough to get to a straight section of road to manage a bail out without hitting a sign or post.
I don't understand why he had his feet off the pegs. I also wonder if possible to recover with hard throttle out. Perhaps something went off-camber on the bike?
the riders name is Paul Orritt and this was at the TT race a few years back in Isle of Man he came over Bray Hill and the bike just started to tank slap on him he was so lucky not to die from what interviews iv seen he says there way nothink he could do to bring the bike back and his brandnew helmit got trashed but saved his life
Ohh, how I hate seeing this! It's so scary to have your bike do this! My Interceptor did this when the fork bearings had a bit too much slop, after the tank slapping I resolved to check them every week! The average bike isn't as sensitive as performance bikes are, but it's still a good idea to check everything once a week.
I didn't tighten the front wheel and fork bolts cos I got distracted by some pit chick doing things to me, which was nice.

Holy #%*£ ! what would cause the bike to wobble like that? Is that what a steering damper prevents?

@moosejuice2107 his front tire came down wrong..see in the beginning he had a little micro wheelie going on lol
