Should I go ahead and get a machine that's made for meat grinding or just just something that has a WAF (wife acceptance factor) such as a Kitchen Aid with a meat grinder attachment? I plan on making my own burgers and sausage.
@DejectedDonkey - As Dirty Harry said "Well, do you feel lucky?"
You can always offer to buy the cheap aluminum unit if she wants if she agrees to buy you the one you want if the chap one breaks. Then, see if it .. breaks.
@sholnay - no problem. If you are going to grind, you don't really have to be all that neat but you can get the little bit of bone out with surprisingly little effort.
@DeniseLunemann - I will. I sure will. Agrivatingest flipping thing... I have a thin rubbery thing I just have to wash it by hand and let it air dry. So mostly, I don't use it. But a kitchen towel that I can rinse out and toss in a load... now that's an idea!
If anyone motorizes a #32 grinder I recommend you put a throat extension (also known as a "safety cover") on it before use. The #32 has short, wide throat that will allow fingers to reach the auger (feed screw). A motorized #32 will take fingers off faster than you can pull your hand out. Please be careful.
nice job, thanks - when you don't know what u r doing, nice to be able to watch it. Looks like buts are a LOT easier to debone than a fresh picnic ham.

try putting a small wet towel beneath that white cutting board, it will prevent it from moving

I needed a deboned butt for a recipe, but had no idea how to remove the bone without "butchering" my butt. Thanks for this clear example!!

This is one of those "you really had to be looking for it" type of videos. It will never win an academy award but I am happy you found it useful.
Thanks for viewing.

This stuff isn't the most riveting out here but I do try to provide useful information (not real "high budget" stuff but functional I hope).
