My Who Tribute band was asked to be the band for a local University's production of Tommy. Listening to the Broadway CD was extremely hard to follow, as it's nothing like we play Tommy, which like you is the 'Live at Leeds' version. Thank God I found your version of Tommy here! Not only is it outstanding it will make my band's job a lot easier to figure out what to play! Thanks so much and again your music and production was terrific! Moon Bob
All I can say is 'Wow!' I have been a long time fan of Tommy. I saw the Toronto/Broadway company in the 1990's and this is as good as that version. Fantastic!!!!!
Tommy is my favorite musical of all time. I thought no version could be better than the 1993 Bdwy one, but this is pretty awesome. Your musical interpretation is WAY better than the Broadway tourist-friendly orchestrations. Awesome! Wish I could have seen y'all in person!
@mylkshayk Your comment just made my week. That's EXACTLY what I was going for when I put together the music for this production - getting away from the "tourist-friendly" sound! Glad you enjoyed it!!!
Darn it, not the orchestral one. I saw a band version like this in Liverpool - it's great, but the orchestral version was out of this world.

@Dermot2927 I deliberately didn't want the show to sound orchestral. Wanted to have the band sound as close to The Who circa 1969-70 as I could.

This is how the Overture SHOULD be played. Excellent job.

Doesn't one of the soldiers(the one in the west side of the door) looks like Hayden Christensen?
Alexeiyeah 1 year ago
@Alexeiyeah You may recognize the soldier from the film Gran Torino. He played Clint Eastwood's grandson in that film.
