after many hours on this, I've discovered this process will only backup individual playlists, not those organized into folders, so if you have heaps of, say, Beatles with sub-folders for each album, they'll not be copied
this is not as easy as Inventorkid made out - has anyone else tried to copy what he said? save here, replace this text with that text, it's hard to follow
whoa, hang on a sec! let me get this clear - because no-one else has ever given me a clear answer on this:
1) I have my iTunes library in one folder - and backed up.
2) I've done what you said and done an "export library" and backed that up.
My laptop gets lost/broken, I buy another one.
Now if I import the 2 above back in, are you saying I'll not only get all my content back - but also my 118 playlists as usual down the left hand side?
GOOD NEWS!!! you should be fine!!! simple go into itunes preferences...file...prefs...then go to advanced and change the itunes music folder location to your external hdd tell meh if dat works
So I open up my iTunes, and it says "Importing iTunes xml" not thinking I click on Cancel... anyways iTunes opens only to find all my Playlists are gone, and most of my music as well. Please help.
hi :) I was just wondering if once I did this process... Would all my album art as well as the song and its descriptions also be saved onto the harddrive? Thank you!
Horrible quality..

great - for doing 1 playlist at a time. I have 118 playlists - how to do them in one go?
POMOZKI 1 year ago
@POMOZKI Instead of clicking "Export Playlist" click on "Export Library"
inventorkid13 1 year ago
@inventorkid13 when you 'export library', not only does it copy or export playlists, but does it export your whole "library" as well?
