I have the same macpro book 13" and I'm thinking of buying this game, but do you have windows installed on your mac or not? I want to buy this game but then I will buy it for mac not for windows. That's were I'm confused though, cause on the system requirements it says that you need a mac OSX or something like that, so does it still work normal on a macbook pro 13"?
@duude485 at the time I made this video it was on Windows only, so gameplay video is for Windows. If you have the 320m Macbook Pro 13" you should be able to play this in Mac OSX though. GOod luck!
i bought this game and turned my settings like yours. i have the same laptop and everything, 13 inch macbook pro with 320m. I dont get smooth preformance like yours.
hey does the demo only let u play as one faction cause im downloading it now but is it worth the down load or not???? cause i have the 4th one but im probably not going to download it if my brother doesnt let me cause i can download demos on his computer but is the 5th ones demo fun or not is it like the real game???
Hey I have the same MacBook as you and I was wondering where you got the demo for Civ 5. I would like to try it before I buy it you know what I mean? So if you could help me out with that that would be great thanks.
@twistedsoul1020 got my demo from steam on the windows side.. not sure if there's a demo for OSX though as I was playing on Bootcamp at the time of this demo and OSX version had not been made yet.
i bought the original game at apple store for my mac book pro 15 " and it doesnt work at all!!!!! can anyone give me a sweet solution for this? not super difficult computing hacks or anything like that plz...
@hombredelpartido Sure I'll help! First off, Civ V requires steam both PC/Mac. So on your MBP, go to steampowered d ot com and install steam. Although I assume the disc should have installed it for you too. Anyway, install steam and either redownload the game by activating the game key on steam or using your disc again. Run Civ V through Steam. Can I et your MBP 15" Specs? What year etc so I know it will run. But yeah STEAM is the key for Civ V playing and working. Hit me back up!
@aznguyen316 hey thanx for your interest and time. I believe it does not work because I dont have the snow leopard latest version or something like that. I bought my MCP 2.5 years ago and have 4 gb of RAM, Gforce 9.600 i believe so more or less powerful mac. However they IDIOTS did not advise me to have snowleopard. Now I have to spend 30 € extra and without being sure that it will work.....first time that Apple Sid Meiers disappoints me.
@MASTURCHEEF001 lawl, sup noob! 320m on the MBP is a different gpu than the 320m GT you probably are thinking of (google it -notebook check will help). Yes it is integrated. 2nd, why are you bringing up the 335m? Yeah I know it destroys the "shit?" out of 320m, I had a M11x w/ 335m brabra, it's dedicated and 1GB vram so uh.. duh?. take care of yourself now.
so how does the demo end?? when does it stop you and ask you to purchase the full version? Though i bought the game without thinking, luckily its amazing
I'm currently playing Civ 5 on a Macbook Pro 15", and it runs surprisingly smooth on mostly high settings(NVIDIA 9400M Graphics card). Some lag here and there though, like late in a game when a handful of Civs decides to take it to the matresses on a standard map. But still - absolutely playable, and excruciatingly addictive. As always.
@Rockhugger7 that is great to hear because i own a macbook and it too has an nvidea 9400m card and on top of it 4gb ram and 2.0 ghz and running windows 7 home premium via bootcamp so im gald i can play an awesome game on my laptop
I'm also using a macbook, and running windows xp via bootcamp. I downloaded the demo from steam, but every time i run the game, it freezes on the loading screen right after I select start game. Any ideas why this is? I would love to play this game.
yesterday, I bought the game (steam). I was about to sell my macbook (the white one). Thanx God I did not sell. Civ5 runs there!!!! of course, there is a BIG LOW in ervery video option. I don't know if I will buy a mac pro only because I want to play Civ... by the way, let me come back to my Civilization!!!
@sitientibus glad it runs.. can always turn down the resolution too if you need. Which white macbook do ya have? But yeah the minimum requirements aren't bad
@RedEyeSIck You got the demo through steam right (think that's the only way). Did you load it up via DX10/DX11 when it asks? That's all I've tried. If so then I say try Dx9 and see how that loads?
btw what Macbook do you have? year/model/video card?
@DeLaHeaven lol yeah, it's all good though. Like I said I'm a noob. I guess I was playing catch up. oh well not like I had many turns since it was a demo. thanks for the tip =D

How is the performance when you are approx 200 turns in? Does it become unbearable?
Thanks for the video.

how much memory does this demo use up?
theonlyone720 1 year ago
first of all, the 320m is a discreet graphics card. second of all, the 335 destroys the shit out of a 320m.

@MASTURCHEEF001 The 320m is an integrated GPU, it's not discreet. The 330m/335m are discreet.

@Hoov22 edit the ini file and skip the intro movie. It's a known issue for many ppl, not only macbooks. Google it, my instructions are very vague.
