Jean2291, theyre not mating or gay! Theyre just playing. (thank god!) But you can only tell a birds gender until its had its 2nd molt. That whiteface had its 2nd molt already so most ppl can tell wut gender it is. ;)

errrr the lutino is a BOY :) the way HE can put down HIS top, the bright orange cheekspots and the deep yellow head are all tell-tell BOY signs. I can not see the underside of your whitehead females tail, but I'm pretty sure it has white or yellow horisontal stripes, which is tell-tell female signs. When the birds mature, boys lose them, the girls keep the tailstripes. He's definetely testing wether she's ready to mate :)

@jackxtremexl Its actually more yellow. Different tones of yellow and some places very pale that it is almost white. The yellow/white Cockatiels are called Lutions. Its a her BTW. Margarita is her name.

I need your help, I have 2 cocktatiels, bro and sis, both were owned by an owner who didnt want them anymore. I have them and I cant pick them up, they peck at my hand. I tried milet but they peck at that too. Im not sure what to do, I think I just given up hope of teaching them

mastirano, The female is Lutino and it is virtually impossible to tell visually if a Lutino is male or female and the male is a white face. I does seem to be the other way though!:)

I have no idea what YOUR birds are doing lol. But I have 2 males myself and they can get a little too nice to each other sometimes too. Then the next minute they hate each other. It's weird.

@mastirano Don't worry when we adpoted Margarita it was 100% sure she is a female. Its only Roméo we are not 100% sure its really a male. Its possible I have two females. LOL But Roméo is younger than Margarita and he is bigger(pretty dominant over Margarita too) so obviously it got to be a male.

Impossible, the white face grey mutation of cockatiel is virtually the same in the Normal grey, the only difference is that the white face greys have lack of melanin in their face, producing the white face, so since all normal greys with yellow heads are males, that is the equivelant to all White Face greys having white heads are males too, learn your facts, not that hard, and im sure the OWNER would know the gender of THEIR own birds.

they are not actually mating, when they do the female will lift her tale to the side to allow access to her vent, then the male will tuck his tail under and rub his vent against hers

lol are you sure it is a male-female pair .. coz whiteface cocaktiel is 100% male .. and i think even lutino is a male..

and always male is on top of the female while mating.. provide a big perch check other videos on youtube of cockatiel mating .. they need big space for mating.. and it should also be a male-female pair lol :P

They usually don't really mind, they always do it on the top of thier cage or on the top of a furniture just at the edge almost like if they wanted us to see it. But they don't seems to do it the right way.
