  • YESSSS!!! UNDERGROUND MAN!!!!!! R.I.P JAY.

  • One of the most amazing performances ever of ANY kind of music whether it be rock, punk, jazz, grunge, you name it. Screaming Jay Hawkins isn't a singer or musician. He's an artist. By the way, while this version is tremendous, the CCR version is pretty darn good too.

  • looks like a bit of an idiot to be honest.

  • damn the host can wail

  • Happy Birthday Screamin' Jay !!

  • A SMOKING CAT IN THE SPACE ??? it ' s in the video called spacecat 175

  • Thanks a ton for the post- amazing performance, and that bonus outro not on the studio version. The Master at work!

  • wow this is the 1st time i actually see him perform! wow what an awesome character and singer. is he the original singer of this song?

  • Screamin' jay is the best.

    BWAHABWAHAADABBGWUBAUBOOH

  • Good ol' Hawkins likes his opera ;)

  • The guy is something else entirely...fair play to the sax player though. He took his moment in the spotlight with real class...

  • well, after all the sax player was the host of the show....

  • @222nietzsche The sax player is David Sanborn, a musical legend in his own right

  • increiiiibleeeee

  • Fantastic version! When was this screened?

  • The show aired between 1988-89

  • he is amazing..so original

  • How about a bill of Screamin Jay and Little Richard and maybe throw in Jerry Lee for good measure ... that would have been a real sight to see.

  • He's a little campy but he's a genuine artist... the brother is on another plane....

  • That's real music.

  • that skull has a cigarette

  • I had the honor of doing sound for Jay at the Telluride Filmfest when Jarmish premiered "Mystery Train". What a guy! Still pitching woo at every lady in sight.

  • GOD!

  • just the best!!

  • Incredible!

  • He's the Pavarotti of the Swamps!!!

  • hahahah! he was punk before those whiny kids were even sperm cells!

  • Superb one of a kind showman. What an incredibly powerful voice!
