  • There is also a free application called FairMount which is very similar, both are great :)

  • the first dvd i have tried to rip. i have tried to rip twice and i have the vlc media player, and i set it for my ipod, but the video is really blocky and messes up a lot in itunes and the lip sync is really bad. so just wanted to ask for some tips and help. i have an imac with 1 gig ram. but i think it should still be waaaaay better quallity

  • Are using the presets, (cuz i find that they suck, well atleast 4 me)

  • i tried it on other dvds and it works like its supposed to (and yes i am using the presets) but the quality in the background of the movie is really blocky but as far as up close stuff goes its great

  • hmm..... well if you mess around with the advanced tab (which is what i do to get the best quality i can) Try enabling: No Fast P-Skip (This can help with blocking on solid colors like blue skies, but can also slow down the encode.) I also tweaked several other settings (which I'm willing to share if you have a powerful pc)

  • I have a mac so yeah it can handle some heavy duty encoding but so far the two other movie have been good but i will try the No Fast p-Skip thing to try and get the background quality better because u do notice it more when the movie has bright light and lots of motion in the background

  • well i have some options tweaked from a preset that gave me great quality vids at 175mb for tv shows. it drastically increases the encoding time, and i have a 2.5Ghz Core 2 Quad cpu and it takes ova and hr for a 30min tv show

  • my mac is a 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Dou but i'm used to a pc where an hour and a half movie takes like 4 hours and i rip them while at school or something like that so i think it would be fine

  • I think I know why it took so long. It was set for BASIC. I perhaps should of set it for TELEVISION. I want to rip the movie so I can watch it on TV. I'll try that.

  • That should do the trick, if not feel free to PM me.

  • I just tried this, and it said it was going to take over 11 hours to rip. Is this right? How long does an average DVD movie take? I want to rip it so I can save it onto a DVD.

  • That is insane! A normal DVD movie averaging around 1-2 hours should only take 1 hour maximum.

  • perfect as ever!

  • Thanks buddy!

  • Informative.

  • Cheers.
