I think the best thing about this version is the Boston Pop's beautiful arrangement. When you hear how wonderfully Hurt lends itself to a symphonic treatment you can fully appreciate Reznor as a truly great composer, especially of dark minimalist pieces that pack such intense emotional power. Were the final history to be written on him today it would likely say "electronic/industrial rock musician". But he is so more than that. He has produced stuff that elevates him to a Phillip Glass level.
