  • Yo...Second half??

  • Gregg Rolie - Class Act. Period!

  • i liked journey before perry was in the band and i like them without perry steave perry is not the band

  • @puggy4321 It appears a FEW people did like pre-Perry and post-Perry Journey. Steve Perry put the band on the map. That's why the band must go with the constant "sound-alikes" and when it puts out new music, it does not sell well.

  • More power to him!

  • Arnel is his own man. He can cover old Journey tunes and dress up the new stuff with his own chops. No one likes the new guy since they get used to the "old school" stuff, but the reality if all is this, Steve made amazing contributions to Journey in the 1980's. This is 2012. As for Gregg..he missed an opportunity to talk about his future, his talents, and his material while he fell into the back story and shadows of an 80's rocker.

  • @JORDANSAGESVLOG When did he become his own man? He has to copy and sound like Steve Perry. No one is interested in the flop Eclipse. Steve Perry is Journey and always will be. No success for the band unless Steve Perry's name is attached to it. Arnel is singing what Steve Perry created with the band - none of "his own man."

  • @Brokered5 Wow that's amazing. I did not know Steve was actually singing on all of the new studio tracks and helping to write the new material. I failed to see that on the new albums.

  • @JORDANSAGESVLOG How RIGHT you are! You don't see or hear that "on all of the new studio tracks and helping to write the new material." Don't you know that the "platinum throated Perry" does not write or sing on flop albums. Eclipse is the bands biggest flop ever! Not one successful album w/o Perry. All Perry's albums are platinum. "Wow that's amazing"!

  • @Brokered5 Wow. So Neal is an idiot then as is Johnathan Cain for hiring the bad singer. They must hate having him as a front man when they cash all those checks.

  • @JORDANSAGESVLOG "Wow." No they are not "idiots" just a desperate band that needed a copycat in order to move forward. Unfortunately, the mocking guy could not deliver the big one - flop Eclipse. May they continue to "cash all those checks" as will Steve Perry, writer/co-writer on all the Greatest Hits that the band MUST play to be in a position to "cash all those checks." Band played only ONE song from that Eclipse on last tour and fans did not want to hear that ONE.

  • @Brokered5 Steve Perry's failed greatest hits 2 because Steve Perry thought that his prostitute appearances for different baseball teams could cash cowed the greatest hits 2. I felt sorry for Rollie and Journey for the embarassment.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Eclipse is the biggest colossal flop in Journey's 35+ year history. All Greatest Hits 2 are on multi-platinum albums while Eclipse is gathering dust on shelves at Walmart. GH-2 always sits ahead of that flop Eclipse.

  • @Brokered5 are you on cracked? Greatest Hits 2 is in the bargain because Perry is milking it. Failed attempt by Steve! The magic Perry is flopped.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Eclipse is an abysmal colossal FLOP on the shelves at Walmart gathering dust. Without Perry, another "Failed attempt by" the karaoke tribute cover band. "The magic" left with Perry. The Greatest Hits have already sold multiplatinum and will continue to sell with the assistance of the big one - Sony!

  • @Brokered5 Eclipse is not a record that was made for money. Steve Perry was crapped poppy singer.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Tell that to the band for the drummer stated that "Eclipse was suppose to surpass Revelation," that one with the mocking "note for note" rerecordings of Greatest Hits. I guess a lot of people like that "crapped poppy singer" whose voice has sold and continues to sell over 70 million records and whose voice is listed at RollingStone as one of the greatest. Now, that's no "crap."

  • @Brokered5 Steve Perry was not the original. Sony would get rights and Steve only would get 10pence per song.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Steve Perry is the "original" on all the multiplatinum albums with the music that the band must play today so "what's 'original' got to do with it?" Steve retired in 1998 so I guess he put his "10pence per song" to good use. Take care!

  • @Brokered5 Steve Perry was a hired singer. It's the smartest thing Journey have done. PERIOD!

  • @newERNIEifyJourney So true, a "hired singer" turned out to be Journey. The band been in existence for over 35 years with that "hired singer" Steve Perry spending actually 9-10 years+ in the band, but his Voice and Musical Creations with the band is what defined the band. The band has had to continue on with "Steve Perry sound-alikes" unable to create any other musical legacies. "PERIOD!"

  • @Brokered5 it is only your imagination that Journey was hiring sound-alike. The Steve Perry fans perhaps are very desperate to get notice. Steve's voice was the dead end of San Francisco. If you love his voice but I don't like his voice in the rock band darling.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Just go with results... Steve Perry's voice has sold over 70 millions records and is listed as one of the greatest. That precipitated Journey having to go with sound-alikes.... "Augeri sounds so much like Perry you'd think Scottish cloning scientists were involved in the auditioning process." RS 12/98......"Journey believing with the Filipino Steve Perry sound-alike." RS 7/2008..... "Millions" liked "his voice in the rock band." Take care!

  • @Brokered5 yet, the RS bosses declared that they will block any attempt of nominating arena rock 70/80s like Journey in the RnR Hall of Fame he he he. They do not like the preening softy voice of Steve Perry. Eclipse album first 3 songs City of Hope, Edge of the Moment and Chain of Love were getting good raved by RS the rests it said that Journey had never changed.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney JourneyEclipse Nomata LLC / By Caryn Ganz/RS June 7, 2011 Rating ** / This 2 star review says nothing about those 3 crappy songs but starts: "It takes 17 minutes & 39 seconds to hit the first satisfyingly Journey-sounding moment on Eclipse - Tantra" .....RS not like Journey music, but w/SP it says "his technical skills (those high notes!), pure tone and passionate sincerity now seem undeniable." RS 2008. Neal, the child prodigy at 15, didn't make greatest guitarist list.

  • @Brokered5 Eclipse album has class and the best album of Journey. Pushing boundaries and that's the mean thing. I don't a shit about Steve Perry's voice.

  • I!TS HARD TO ADMIT THAT THERE !S ANOTHER SINGER!!! BETTER THAT STEVE PERRY!! NO OFFENSE I1M TELLING THE THRUTH THAT!S MY OWN OPINION!. WHAT!S YOURS.......

  • @anniesandiego As Aerosmith would say "Dream On." Like you said "that's your opinion!" shared only by a few. Pineda DOES NOT touch Perry and never will. Rather sad for he is just a singer who has spent his life copying others work, and will never be accepted otherwise. Perry could sell original songs. Steve Perry the best Journey will ever know that's why they got the copycat..

  • Rolie - a phenominal talent and a class act.

  • steve perry rocks happy birthday

  • Nothing after Journeys Next L.P has very much heart.! Don't get me wrong it was different and the music was phenominalListen to Journeys first album Journey Or the second one,Look Into The Future. Back when they were real! Not manufactured by a record label.Like the Backstreet Boy's or an Erector set.

  • Perry is ther Bomb lalalalalalalal

  • Medioric is not a real word . LOL Escape blew the charts out!

  • Well if they are so great then why do they need a singer to imitate Steve Perry? That says it all It is the voice and style of Steve Perry.Sorry but the 3rd kid on the block is nothing more then a karoke singer and I see Neal and Johnathan as no more then pimps,Rollie is pissed always has been.

  • @df041278 Steve Perry is dead.... get over it. Have the funeral already and bury the corps.

  • @Edzy1981 You accept it !!Perry is the best was and is hahah

  • @Edzy1981 No shit. The guy is not producing anything. Let him go into retirement and be happy

  • @Edzy1981 Steve Perry is alive and well more than I can say for the karaoke band that's been dead since he left. When you have to resort to a bonafide karaoke copycat you are desperately done. They should stop putting out new music for the old stuff with the Steve Perry sound is the only interest.

  • Steve's new album, "I Just Can't Sing Anymore" will be in stores any day now.... HAHAHA

    STEVEISDEAD

  • @Edzy1981 Journey's next album, if any, "Another Flop" won't "be in stores any day now..." "HAHAHA" Journey is musically "dead" Nothing but Karaoke from this point forward. Only got to play one new song off of flop Eclipse and NO ONE wanted to hear that one, but at least gave chance for restroom break. How nice of the "reasonable facsimile" of what's left of the band.

  • @Brokered5 Greatest Hits 2 is in the bargain sales with greatest hits 2. Steve Perry only wanted to cash cow hype

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Walmart has loads of that flop Eclipse that's been sitting on the shelf since it was released. The worst Journey album ever. The Greatest Hits 2 have already gone multiplatinum. Too bad you can't or ever will be able to say that about the flop Eclipse. Journey wanted a "cash cow hype" when the got s/one to mock Perry. Now the "hype" is over. No more fake platinum, Revelation, albums loaded with The Greatest Hits to sell it.

  • @Brokered5 Eclipse is real sales. your multiplatinum steve sales were faked by the label.

  • Steve vs Arnel..... WHO CARES! I grew up listening to Journey, and loved Steve, and now I love Arnel. Bickering over the two is useless. Some like Steve better and others prefer Arnel. Differences are o.k, and we all don't have to agree with one another, but racism is downright intolerable. Steve Perry came and went, Arnel is here, and someday he might leave and another will come along. Just sit back and enjoy!

  • @HorrorBuffy- Your right i didn't mean to offend you in any way. I also agree racism has no place here on youtube. I just feel that Perry doesn't get the recognition he so deserves. I usually preach about unity for all us Journey fans and sometimes i get sucked right into the Perry,Pineda dispute. I think Arnel has his own flavor and i enjoyed his performance of City of Hope. I will always stand by Perry but i also agree bickering won't solve anything. Like you i will just sit back and enjoy.

  • Steve Perry was Rockin on Stage when all of his replacements were still in pre K wetting there beds! I'm about the same age as Pineda and i was Rockin to Steve Perry at age 6 when Journey the true Journey was on top with Steve Perry at the helm. And the rest of band members didn't dislike Perry then. Watch the classic videos and watch Schon & Rollie smile at Perry all the time. Why to this day is there so many Perry wannabe's so many tribute bands? Why? Steve Perry The Legend! The Best!

  • We'll see just how long Pineda will last before he's replaced. Can you say Jeff Scott Soto & Steve Augeri why does Neil Schon insists on finding a Steve Perry sound alike. I'll tell ya why cause Steve Perry brought on the success and The current Journey just won't admit that. So they try and try but can never really match what Perry brought to them. I wish Pineda all my best but lets see if he'll be as succesful singing the new songs for a 20yr road tour like Perry did with as much success!

  • Just wanted to say also that i think it's funny how people wanna dislike Steve Perry but when the current Journey sings the audience wants to hear Pineda cover Steve's songs. I have a friend who went to see Pineda and she thought he was great. She told me that Pineda did some of Journeys new stuff but they were not satisfied until they heard the classics which Steve Perry covered. Pineda is good but i doubt he will last. Perry toured from 70's till the mid 90's A,P. 4yrs so far! No comparrison.

  • People wanna act like Steve Perry wasn't great when the real truth is Steve still has more hits on youtube than Pineda and nomatter what said about Perry it's Perry you hear on all Radio stations across this great nation. Pineda has my upmost respect But to say Pineda is better than Perry get real people. Perry was the best and has nothing to prove to no one. Pineda is never heard on radio staions it's always Perry! If Pinda so great stop covering Steve Perrys songs.Let A.P. cover his own stuff

  • To me it's so clear that even after all these years there is still some dislike from the former band members of Journey. These guys never liked Steve Perry from the get go but their then manager forced them to hire Perry who is responsible for there popularity! PERIOD! Without Steve they would of just been put away for good. Neil Shon & Gregg Rollie are close friends so of course Rollies gonna cheer on Schon. But they sure did ride Perrys coat tail when he was with the band. And didn't bitch then.

  • @gamemasterjavier No one even reads posts like this.........stfu

  • @JLorraineRocks Didn't mean to offend you or anyone just sayin what i felt.

  • @gamemasterjavier I'm sorry that I was rude. It's just that you practically wrote a Rolling Stone article.

  • @JLorraineRocks - I understand it's cool! Rolling Stone Article? - Good one very funny! It's nice to see your funny side & I respect your opinion. It does get to be to much arguing over nonscence and getting caught up in it.Just happens i guess. But who knows maybe i will get a job reporting for Rolling Stone I think i quallify. LoL ; ) - Anyway Happy Hollidays & Yes JLorraineRocks! Peace my friend.

  • You gott love Rolie. Great voice, great attitude. Super-cool guy.

  • philippines, the people are poor in your ears.but in the truth we are very rich....with ntural talents, even covers.you you can't even cover one filipino song.right? we are poor, yes, but you need to know, the history and study it significantly, you're the colonizers in this country.;; until now. if your out in this land... we will show you our abondant life...

  • why don't Greg and Steve work together.

  • Comment removed

  • @zeanon1965 And, who knew that "Journey" was still around anyway without Perry? NOBODY. Wow, the band got a revival from Sopranos and Glee! BUT, guess what, the music in both Sopranos and Glee were Perry's stuff, Perry's voice. The revival brought in a younger generation, who don't know and will likely never appreciate the heart of the real story. But, I bet you, if you let them sample the original and new versions, they will pick the real deal and not even realize it.

  • I am really liking Gregg Rolie. His "Five Days" sounds great.

I love pre-Perry Journey, as well as the Perry era. While I do prefer Perry (and Rolie) over Pineda, I respect him, nonetheless.

That said, if Rolie himself approves of Pineda, can you all keep the Perry/Pineda bashing to yourself? I see a debate in the comments of practically every video I watch!

  • @ssgrobanessa What Rolie did not say is very telling. Rolie does not say anything that indicates that he believes Arnel to be an extrordinarly gifted singer. He does not say anything that indicates that he believes Arnel has finese, phrasing, enuciation, sense of melody, and sense of rythym that makes him a perfect fit for Journey and worthy and capable of filling the HUGE shoes of SP

Rolie is being very politically correct in this interview. Nice story does not equal vocal virtuosity.

  • @neechee5150 Oh, I am very aware of how "politically correct" Rolie was, as you put it. No one has been able to fill Steve Perry's shoes, and no one ever will. That man is just pure magic.

I'm just tired of seeing people argue over Perry and Pineda.

  • yea Philippine Island does not have middle class only poor & rich.ofcourse standard

of living is not there yet.but slowly but surely someday everything si fine.

  • ARNEL PINEDA was NOT POOR when neal schon discovered him...he was earning a decent living as a vocalist of his band before his stint with journey..yes he was poor at a certain point of his life, but not at that time he was discovered...please get your facts straight...and by the way, not everyone on the philippines is poor!

  • I think without this Rolie Rolex, no Journey!

  • i liked him way more than perry

saw them in 1969 very awesome

  • sarcastic

  • Rolie, Philippines is like the US some very poor areas and some are affluent.

  • Peneda is flat-out great.

  • No,that was Journey and as their name connotes and denotes they are on their way.

  • Journey was so much better with Rollie!! I would love to see a reunion with Rollie, Steve Smith and Steve perry!! Now, THAT'S Journey!!

  • Rollie was a huge part of Journeys success...

Everything before Escape (which are the classic/best tunes) features Rollie, as well as being the vocalists on Classic Santana tunes. I'm sure Rollie has no regrets. He's a very successful musician, and is still writing great tunes. He simply don't put out corporate music... : )

  • @ericdwaynemusic He, in my opinion, is a "true" musician - plays what he feels instead of what the the corporate music world wants to hear. I think Journey was at it's most natural and creative being when Rollie was at the Helm. Though I like Perry's voice and some perry-era songs, I believe that the musical structure of Journey's songs was "dumbed-down" at the time in which Perry joined the band. It's not entirely steve's fault - the band had to play what the producers thought would sell.

  • Respond to this video... The reality is that these guys needed to make money, so they went with what the producers thought would sell - meaning that I do not believe they would have had much chance of success if they had kept Rollie. This is because the types of songs that sold big time were not the progressive rock types that Rollie (and Schon, for that matter) preferred. No doubt the Perry-era produced great songs (and he had a great voice) but I prefer the older Prog-rock Journey.

  • I liked Rolie's band The Storm too.

  • It must suck to leave a band just before it becomes a huge success. I would always be kicking myself in the ass.

  • @tryithere Well Journey was already a pretty big success when Rollie left. "Lights", "Lovin Touchin Feelin", "Just The Same Way", "Any Way You Want It", "Feelin That Way".......these were all Rollie era hits. Its true their BIGGEST period would have been 81-83, When they had stuff like "Don't Stop Believin" and "Faithfully". But that wasnt when they broke through....just when they reached their Biggest commercial success. They broke through with Rollie.

  • @tryithere Also Rolie was the lead singer of Santana when Santana was at its peak commercial success. He is the singer on "Black Magic Woman" and "Evil Ways". He is a rare example of a guy fronting 2 successful bands in the same decade. So theres really no reason for him to kick himself in the ass on anything. He was flat out ROLLING in the 70's.

  • @tryithere Oh yeah i forgot...."Wheel in the Sky" was another hit from the Rolie era

  • You will not hear a new Perry album, and will certianly never see him tour again. It's over. But that's okay. He had his run. He had a wonderful voice and made some great music. He has moved on, the band has moved on, now it's time for the fans of both camps to move on. One will get new music and tours, the other can live life in the past and relish the memories. Time to leave each other alone.

  • Perry isn't at all involved in any humanitarian causes. I'm sure he cares, but that doesn't mean he's involved in any way. He was not a first-generation immigrant. There is poverty everywhere, just look at many places in many states in the U.S. We have some of the worst poverty in the world.

  • Facts instead of fiction: Fleischman was replaced by Perry because he refused to sign a contract with Herbie to be his manager. That's the ONLY reason. Perry's addition made the music more pop and radio friendly. It was the addition of Cain that brought the band mega success, not Perry. Before Cain, three top 40, zero top 10. With Cain, three top 10 hits on the first album alone, and eventually six top 10 hits.

  • @TexasRokker "Facts instead of fiction" Perry's addition brought mega success from where they were selling 100k albums to millions w/hit songs - Lights, LTS, WITS, AWYWI that are staples at concerts today, just like the latter hits. Perry/Cain co-writing then more hits, and Perry also scored solo hits. Now tell me about Cain's hits pre-Perry, post-Perry or solo? Cain said in an interview "his greatest success came with Steve Perry." That's an unequivocal fact!

  • @Brokered5 - Until Escape (Cain's addition to the band), Journey was still not staying in nice hotels, traveled only by bus, never sold out a show in an arena as a headliner, and often, as Perry recently stated, shared towels after showers. I saw the band in the 70s after Perry joined, and trust me, they weren't packing them in. Their big success came with Cain's songwriting. Are you so stupid as to believe the style of Cain's solo material is made to sell a lot? Seriously?

  • @TexasRokker Until Perry Sony had threatened to kick out the band. Perry brought them platinum success, singing & writing, getting more notice. Their big success came with Perry and Cain writing. All Success is w/SP. Why do you think they got a copycat? Now tell me about Cain or Journey's success w/o Perry's name attached? VanHalen scored big with Hagar when Roth left, but what musical success has Journey had w/o SP? Solo or Journey Cain has not written anything w/o SP.

  • ringer my ass............hes no perry

  • Class act!

  • hey, you`re kind a selfish person..don`t talk about other country.Talk about yourself on how you have to broaden your mind..Poor people are everywhere.I think you`re such an ignorant person..Why you yourself is rich?Maybe if u don`t know how to sing, your life is like chicken..If i were you just be humble..you gonna die anyway.no matter what you have in this world.my advice to you fuck you..u don`t have to be choosy..my country is my country..your country has of lot of shit to fix..

  • lets face it Philippine Island has a lots of poor people,is not europe, usa, japan,uk

south korea, singapore, australia, new zealand, hongkong, taiwan standard yet, but in the near future it should climb a little bit slowly but surely.the leader whos running the show has vision for the Island,Catholic church leave them alone let them do their job.

  • Treading on dangerous ground here, but i can't help myself-i grew up to the tunes of Open Arms, Faithfully, etc but didn't know who the heck was the singer. Out of respect to SP, whom I think already IS a legend in rock in roll, he was a big reason why those songs became so popular. However, TODAY, Journey is experiencing a revival, and we, the young ones wish to just enjoy the music, with Pineda singing, cause the guy is soulful, hits the darn high notes and amazing to watch on stage.

  • Greg was always an ass. Ego issues i guess. There will NEVER be another singer to take STEVES' place in my book.

  • @DreamScape799 Steve Perry is dead. Get over it.

  • @Edzy1981 Very much alive and enjoying the fruitage of his creation with the Band that seemingly has been unable to create anything w/o him. Even Revelation has his name all over it, but not Eclipse, but that's okay - only sold 70k.

  • @Brokered5 - Just how many albums has Perry sold in this century. A little wake-up call, dummy....his GH+5 has sold only roughly 80,000 units. That's all. It never even charted at all. His solo tour was a financial disaster, with actual ticket sales averaging under 2,200 per show. So, Journey still packs them, releases new material, and is active. Perry is what? Let's see, two studio albums in a 28 year solo career. Wow!

  • @TexasRokker He helped create a legacy and RETIRED and is "living off past glories" just like s/one said the band is doing. Street Talk 2x plat & FTLOSM gold. Good GH+5 is selling. Eclipse charted at #13 in May '11 but has only sold 70k. SP's solo tour did more than Neal's in '10 - 40 people. Journey/Foreigner/NightRanger or w/ever package deal still packs w/"Steve Perry sound-alike." SP always attached. "Perry is what?" - RETIRED!! Now, what is so hard to understand?

  • @TexasRokker He has been remastering all the New releases for Sony !! They go to him to do it,Because they know he will do a great job, because they trust him..How many times has those albums gone Gold and Platinum ?

Look Journey is now a JOKE in the Music world they have made it a circus of karaoke singers, Perry w/ journry sold 80 million albums.. Whatever music has the new Journey made .They play all of Steve Perry's songs he made known Steve Perry was Journey.Facts are Facts

  • @df041278 so well said good sir

  • @Brokered5 When is Steve's new album coming out???? How about NEVER!!!! Why don't you just blow Steve. I know that is what you want to do.

  • @Edzy1981 U are an asshole! Steve Perry is and always will be a GREAT singer....Can U sing like him NO so quit being an asshole all your life

  • @Tammyperry1 Another fat middle aged Perry worshipper..... You always come out of the wordwork around supper time - HAHAHAHA

  • @Edzy1981 Another moron ....who attaches herself to losers .hahahahahah Goes to show you jealous people ..who's laughung now ..mememememememe hahahah

  • @Edzy1981 Another moron who wouldn,t know good music if it bit her on the ass ..another arnel groupie ..who likes there music from a tuner ..You could learn something from some middle aged worshipper,Who had the best music from the best singer ..something you have never experienced ..I am sure ..

  • @Edzy1981 Nope, he is plenty young ones too. The middle-aged one show up at Journey concerts, along with 2-3 teens.

  • @Edzy1981 He does not have to come out with new album for his work created with the band "goes on and on" b/c the band has NOT AND "NEVER" will be able to create anything new that does not have the Perry stamp on it. Karaoke is as karaoke does and desperate is as desperate does!

  • @DreamScape799 In my opinion, Steve Perry WAS and ALWAYS WILL BE THE ONLY VOCALIST for Journey! If today's Journey ends up a "flop" or "failure," what are Journey gonna' do next?

  • @AngelofAnguish what Journey gonna do next? well, Journey just released the so called ex-the voice Perry Greatest Hits 2 this month flopped and failed to sell. It sold 2k on the debut week. Perry as a vocalist made Journey a confused sound and genre. They would never be as big as you've thought. Arnel Pineda does better to bring this band out to the world. Where in hell was Journey in the past?

  • @newERNIEifyJourney I don't know about 2K, but one of their greatest hits album, that has SP on every song, sold diamond (10 milllion +) This GH2 isn't really their "greatest". More like minor hits, and most were never released as singles. Like I told you before, Arnold is good. But if Journey only played Arnel's songs in concert, they'd only be able to pack bars.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney I don't know about 2K, but one of their greatest hits album, that has SP on every song, sold diamond (10 milllion +) This GH2 isn't really their "greatest". More like minor hits, and most were never released as singles. Like I told you before, Arnel is good. But if Journey only played Arnel's songs in concert, they'd only be able to pack bars.

And if they only played songs on the GH2 album, then they'd still pack concert halls like they do now.

  • @ThisIzTheEdge Steve Perry is flopped now. Greatest Hits 2 sold 8k for 5 weeks. The fans had enough of his ego and unprofessional gesture towards to other lead singers. Arnel Pineda on the other hand, I think he is the most versatile lead singer of Journey. Journey should play all their songs, no perry still sold out shows. Journey received awards and recognition with Arnel Pineda. It's all Perry's fault, he left Journey. Where is Steve now? Hide again after his greatest hits selections failed

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Eclipse (flop) sold 70k in 8 mos. (8k per mo) never went multiplatinum like GH2 songs. Perry is a versatile singer/writer of original music, producer, etc. unlike the other. Guess the flop of Eclipse shows that it takes more than just giving words to a singer. 17 sellouts of 73 shows (20 more shows/less people than '08) can't match glorious stadium past w/SP w/original music. Awards from music created w/Perry. Band not talking about Eclipse "Hide."

  • @newERNIEifyJourney GH2 has sold over 10k and should not have a problem catching up with flop "Eclipse" 70k selling a few hundred a week. Sony just wanted to get out another compilation. "The fans" only interested in the new singer's mimicking skills, kinda reliving the past as they remember. Seems only 70k looking forward to Journey's new musical future.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney GH2 debuted (unexpectedly) at #90 with over 5600k in sales and sold 10k so far. Eclipse debuted in May at #13 with 21k (s/one predicted 100k) & sold 70k by Nov'11. Journey was one of the biggest bands w/SP. Thanks to Sopranos and Glee with DSB (band sells nothing) that the music Steve Perry helped to create and sang 'goes on and on.' What will Walmart do next with the excessive orders of "Eclipse" that no one bought. Sony knows what to do w/GH2.

  • Greg was always an ass. Ego issues i guess

  • @DreamScape799 What fucking Ego???? lol all he did was offer a opinion on the band that HE not Perry but HE started.

  • ye,im amazingly poor!

  • amazingly poor? the fuck r u talkin about? every part of the world have poor people you stupid motherfucker!

  • @MegaJonpogi You are an idiot. You have probably never left your mom's basement long enough to visit a third world country. All you lame people who are bitchin' about him saying the Philippines are "amazingly poor" need to shut up. I have been there many times, and the poverty is sad. MegaJonpogi, if you are a Pinoy, you should be ashamed of yourself. You are a shame to your people, and a little coward - WALANG TITI!

  • @Edzy1981 dont talk like you know me fuckface! me , a coward? hahaha! i wish we could meet and say that in front of me, I can knock u out with just a slap!

  • Some part of America is really poor Mr. Rich.

  • HAHAHA!! He's just jealous! Poor guy..

  • @wcampollo - You and the rst of the punks commenting below are fools and very ignorant. Personally attacking Greg Rolie and calling himugly (Is that all you got?) because he truthfully described how Neil Schon changed a young singer's life - the Philippines islands are horrendously poor, and Arnel would admit that too. Lighten up and grow up. Greg Rolie is a legendary musician, originally sang lead for Santana (See Woodstock). Hes scored more women than you've met. RETARD.

  • Your amazingly ugly and probably the reason you got booted before their big success. You only wish to have a voice like Arnel and you should feel really bad to know that majority of the worlds best singers are filipino like bruno mars......Oh yeah that's right you can't sing so you wouldn't know him. I guess I'm a little upset about you talking shit about how poor philippines is or did you mean how poor you were before and how poor you are now. LOL

  • Damn, this guy still works in the industry? I gotta hear some of his solo material.

  • @RanMouri1995

    Get his Gringo Album !!

  • Gregg Rolie Band - CD Bundle for 20bucks is excellent deal! I just ordered it!

Gregg Rolie Band CD's - "Roots", "Rain Dance - Live at Sturgis" and "Five Days" - and get them for the price of 2!

  • Trobuled in mind is a great track from Five days.

  • Gregg looks GREAT! Wish I knew when/where we'll be able to hear the part about his time with Journey AND Steve Perry!

  • ja ja ja Amazingly poor for the two letter Ps Pineda Philippines and Perry, Portugal and both Poreigners.

  • the best vocalist of Journey and of course the original, mind you Steve Perry and Arnel Pineda are both sound-alike of Robert Fleischman's tenor voice. We are happy for Greg, you don't stop singing and recording music for us. Great man!

  • @NoJboysAPN0Journey Perry & Pineda sound-alikes of Fleishman?? Hardly! What a funny comment. Yup, Fleischman really made his mark with Journey, didn't he. Guess Steve had to 'imitate him' which will probably be your next ridiculous remark! Perry isn't really "The Voice of Journey" - that is just everyone's imagination. Jeezzzz.

  • @punkchickkool ja ja ja Steve Perry maybe an alien voice of Journey. Steve Perry fans are very direct about that he is the voice. Steve Perry imitated Robert tenor's voice. If Robert F had a chance to record Infinity, Steve Perry still be in the Turkey farm until now. Steve Perry is exploited Arnel Pineda for getting an increase 1 pence royalties.

  • @NoJboysAPN0Journey Steve Perry is an imitator??!!! He's a fraud??!! The world needs to know this! I want a refund on all my Journey with Steve Perry albums! I didn't know I was listening to a fake! I wonder if Robert F, Steve's good friend, knows Steve faked his voice all these years! Robert should be alerted, as should be the rest of the world! Strip Perry of his royalties and send him back to the farm! Hurry, before anymore of us are defrauded!

  • @punkchickkool ja ja ja, uhmm surely, you would imagine yourself that Steve Perry is the voice of Journey all along since 1978. I found it hilarious because if he is, Perry should be Neal Schon's manager. Robert F was the original tenor voice. Steve P was an enhance girly quaver tenor voice imitation of Robert F. Arnel Pineda is a sandwich tenor voice of Steve Perry and Robert F. Arnel P could basically do both. Shame, the infinity album was robbed from Robert F to exploit Perry. Smart moved

  • @punkchickkool why should I strip Steve P royalties and send back to the farm? I am not like these cruel low life and negative people Steve fans who only wanted on youtube is to send Arnel Pineda back to the gutter in Manila. Steve Perry can suck his royalties to death from Journey . I am not caring.

  • @NoJboysAPN0Journey Dude, I was being sarcastic, as your remarks are asinine. Journey management was looking for another singer as Fleishmann wasn't cutting it. Has a nice voice, apparently wasn't the signature voice Journey needed to hit the big time. If Perry hadn't been there to save the day, Journey may have ceased to exist. Infinity would not have been Infinity, as Perry co-wrote 8 of the 10 tracks, some of their biggest hits. We cannot re-write history. You attended Harvard? I doubt it!

  • @punkchickkool Dude would you like me to go back to school? English is not my strong points but to be serious I can drag you down to any court cross examination. yes believe it or not, the other NoJboysAP attended Harvard and a member of Harvard connection. But hey, we are on youtube. We like playing around Steve Perry bigot fans (whisper to u, they own Journey). They are bigots and the bests ignorant fans in America to run around. Robert Fleishman was replaced by Steve Perry in the middle of

  • @NoJboysAPN0Journey I hope that you don't think that all devoted Perry fans are bigots. Yeah, there are some jerks out there, but anyone who really adores Perry also respects that he himself was from an immigrant family, is bi-lingual, and cares about humanitarian causes in other countries-and reports being teased himself as a kid because he was a first generation immigrant. I don't think he would ever support bigotry, & no true fan of his would, either. I'd like to see an Arnel solo album.

  • @punkchickkool Absolutely! We cannot re-write history but we can look back and reflect. For instance, what If Robert Fleishcman was given a chance to record Infinity. Robert Fleishman would probably be the signature tenor sound of Journey. Journey would probably a huge rock n roll hit worlwide in the 80s. Gregg Rolie is and always the signature progressive rock sound of Journey. Anyway, Journey's final history isn't fulfilled and completed during Perry's era. Journey sold without recognition.

  • @NoJboysAPN0Journey Problem with that scenario with Fleischman-he wasn't that talented a singer or song writer. The Infinity songs were born of the song writing chemistry between Perry/Schon/Rollie. Love Rollie, and glad to see him still engaged in making music. And while I don't think Arnel could ever replace Perry, no one could!!, I think he is an amazing talent!

  • @gluchnurse Dios Mio! please, grow-up will yah? Arnel Pineda did not replace anybody. Arnel Pineda brings new life to Journey on his own style. You are a nurse. Please, act accordingly to your nursing ethos. You are stereotyping people and don't be an abuser. Robert Fleischman is a talented man the same as everyone else. I think, you are one of the bigots Steve Perry fan. I should leave it that way.

  • @NoJboysAPN0Journey If you read my second post above about bigotry, I think you will retract that statement. By 'replace', I'm talking about someone needing to sing the Perry era songs that everyone wants to hear, who sounds at least similar to Steve Perry -the concert playlist is predominantly the old songs, because the Eclipse album hasn't charted a single track. Arnel is amazing- hope he solos soon,- the Journey guys are much older-he'll want to have an independent career to fall back on .

  • @gluchnurse I am really fed-up answering all of bigotry for almost 3 years now. Can you move on? Have some life for a change...

  • @NoJboysAPN0Journey I do enjoy talking to you because you are passionate about music. But again, differences of opinion aren't bigotry. I tend to look at Billboard charts-I'll defer to you on the other charts I wasn't aware of on the singles-but Eclipse had only one week on the Billboard charts as an album-so it still has problems. Re: solo-Schon/Cain both do solo albums-Arnel could, too, so that when the 60 year old guys eventually retire he still has a career-as he has a lovely voice. Peace...

  • @gluchnurse you are getting dumber and dumber. Eclipse spent 6 weeks in the Billboard chart at #13. If you couldn't find it in the archive, concsult Miss Journey Wiki.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Wikipedia is posted by anyone. It is not a reliable source of information. No decent school will ever allow anyone to cite Wikipedia as a source when doing research. Just went, now, to recheck Billboard, which is the source I use. When you search Eclipse, it comes up under Independent Albums, meaning distributed independently. As of today, Sept. 16th, it says that it debuted at Number 4 on the charts, and spent only ONE week there, never charted again, & NO singles charted.
