I've heard rumours as to how they came here. There seems to be alot of people saying that about 20 Ring Neck Parakeets went missing from Shepperton Studios from the set of "The African Queen" in 1951. And since then they have multiplied and now there are hundreds maybe thousands of them. I see loads flying around South-West London!
I used to work in Richmond and only managed to catch fleeting glimpses of these beautiful birds - thank you for posting this. Does anyone know how long these birds have been present in the area?

Was down there last summer, it was swarming with them. There must've been a up to few thousand.
