I wasn't around in the 80s, but luckily my dad had a spectrum which he kept hold of for a while. Some of my earliest memories are of playing this game.
@craneywatch You should be able to get this game for about £3 - £5. It's not rare or anything. The 5 game boxed collection would be another matter. No idea how much that would go for.
@craneywatch@craneywatch I bought the boxed collection when it originally came out for £9.99. I was looking around and just found out this game was only released as part of the Dizzy Excellent Adventures compilation. The Dizzy Collection ( which is before this one) is up on ebay for £2.99 at the moment. Let's say £15 is a fair price for 5 games in a nice cardboard box.
@craneywatch You're welcome mate. Some people moved on to other systems. I just stuck with the speccy. I'm surprised that speccy fans aren't putting up more videos. I will never forget all the fun I had back in the 80's. Great times!
You can easily play the Amstrad version instead. That has a 64k or 128k mode too and the game is almost identical. The only difference are the colours really.
@andyukmonkey Yes, and the Amstrad's colors were better than usual for this game. You should see how cool Dizzy looks wearing the scuba gear, as it makes use of the fourth color!
Dizzy games in Spectrum format are still the best. I tried innovated dizzy games, they don't have that glomour which old Dizzy games have. Especially that jumping sound. I miss them a lot!
I can't remember mate. I put this up a while ago, but I will be re-doing it at some stage. I think you are right though, because I played it on the +3 and seem to remember revolving stars when Dizzy fell.
Yeah, there were spinning stars and a load of other little enhancements. The music was pretty good on the 128k as well. If you find a 128k snapshot of it, let me know, as its "distribution denied - grr!!"
It's coming back to me now, lol! Distribution denied indeed! What is it with some of those software houses? Please Mr Darling twins, can you undeny your games!
The thing that makes it all the more annoying is that Philip and Andrew Oliver don't really care about people sharing their old games anymore, it's just Codemasters preventing it.
OMFG, I used to have a Spectrum ZX 128K, I loved it! Except it took an age to load lol Dizzy was my fave game, thanks for uploading, I have had a retro flashback!
The loading was the best part. It's when it crashed or the game loaded which was the disappointment. The Dizzy games are some of the best games ever! Cheers!
I remember the versio found in the "dizzy's Excellent Adventures" pack being a lot more smaller than the full-release :).
Brilliant game, and I love the idea of the added wind-shaft, making the game harder for a good reason :D, with the idea of Dizzy carrying more bolders to drop down at a faster pace, and less to slow down.

@SupahMunch Your dad had good taste in computers and games. Not an easy game for a youngster to play but it has a certain appeal.

Same here, apart from the crying, lol! You can't beat a bit of Dizzy. Classic gaming and great times!

IIRC this is the 48k version. The 128k version had better graphics as well as sound (more animation)
