Very interesting interview Tom, your grandfather was my great uncle, his sister Nancy Goldsmith was my grandmother. I guess this means we're related though I can't quite work out how! Frank met my parents when at Southampton when he c visited the UK in 1965. I still have a postcard of the Titanic inscribed 'Frank Goldsmith - 3rd Class Survivor.
Really interesting interview. i've never heard the story about Alfred Rush before. I think I read somewhere that two of Frank Goldsmith's playmates on board the Titanic were Rossmore and Eugene Abbott, who went down with their mother Rose/Rhoda Abbott. The two boys were lost, but their mother survived. I think she was the only woman who actually sank with the ship and survived.
I remember hearing survivor Frank Goldsmith Jr. speaking at our library in Hudson, Ohio, when I was a kid in the early 1970s. He created a lifelong interest in the Titanic for me.
