It depends on interpretation. Jesus brings up scripture that said what God has brought together let no man separate. The question becomes is Jesus saying don't you let it happen, or don't you let others do it?

And he said if you divorce your wife and she then has sex with another man, you caused her to commit adultery, and if you have sex with another woman you commit adultery -except in the case of her fornification (cheating on you), which puts you in the clear.

There's also another point here which is that the law allowed divorce, it's only Jesus who was strict about it. So if a Jew or other non-Christian believes in biblical marriage and divorce, you can't fault him for dismissing Jesus's advice on it.

They ignore many things, notice how they never bring up the scientific errors and contradictions. And then when i reference to the harsh cruelness of the OT, they say "oh well that's the old testament, it doesn't count if there's something bad in there..."

I don't know if your comment is attempting to contradict mine or not. Anyways, if the original version of a document states within said piece that it is an absolute writing, and doesn't change(i.e Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind.) then that first piece is what should really be looked at. IMO it's just an attempt by the religious to keep power by keeping up with the times, can't be too popular if you're killing in god's name.
