  • Well...what form? Legs raised? I tried it, good for the abs but shifting the balance forward makes it same or maybe easier. He is good maybe about the elbows not too open and the chin well over the bar, but I just started training here and there 3 months ago at 38yo, older than him, all I had is some climbing background ages ago when lighter, I can already do 10 pullups that way at bodyweight 87kg, heavier than him(?). Only I can't...sing well all the way, but these guys should show off less...

  • I have better more productive things to get on with, that blowing off about how many pullups i can do. Its no more significant than a mustard burp. A lot of guys your age could probably do truck loads of pullups if they trained there Lats as well, but just dont bother... why dont you try something with a little more skill aquisition rather than just no brainer bull headed pullups. your probably not that smart anyway.   • obviously your shoulders are quite strong and have good fast-twitch response, but i found in my working out days that if you can military press your own body weight (which i dont doubt that you can), your shoulders are PLENTY strong enough to stop working them.

  • I want to start doing pull ups but Ive heard that they work the biceps big time as well as the lats & stuff, so does this mean that if I do a few sets of pull ups then I wont be able to hit the bicep curls a few hours later because the biceps would of been stimulated earier?

  • no. pullups do stimulate your bi's but not too much with this method. if your doing them with your hands turned the other way, you work them alot more. you need to have one day for shoulders (chinups) and one day for back and biceps. (lat excercises make your arms look bigger...kind of a mental thing).

  • I work out every other day so I wanted to know if I could insert pullups into my routine without it taking anything away from my biceps session, do you mean that palms facing towards me works the biceps more during a pull up? also on a different note, I currently work each exercise for 45 mins doing 8-10 sets 12 reps a piece but I'm hearing that this is too much & that three heavy sets are enough!, whats your take on that? am I over training.

  • Yes. when you do a curl, your palms face toward you, so in effect the ligaments are in the same location and position as when you do a chinup in the same manner. palms facing out = shoulders and tries and a little chest, palms facing in = biceps tris and a little chest and shoulder. (its all good for you!) and on the other note it depends on how heavy the weights are...are you building or toning? going for fast twitch or bulk? 8 sets sounds like to many imho, go with 4 and step up the iron.

  • I'm aiming for bulk, okay I'll go with lower sets but heavier weights, my muscles never ache any more, maybe thats an indication that I'm not going heavy enough, thanx for the advice dude, I really appreciate it!

  • read you dumb shit! its called prexhaustion! you should be hitting your compound muscle first which is your back then follow it with your biceps. also, if you do pull ups correctly, then you work your back more than your biceps.
