The air in the flask / bottle is being heated by the candle, when the fire goes out, that hot air cools, and contracts (shrinks) and sucks in whatever it can to replace it!

@anne2matthew actually i think its because the fire burned up the oxygen and the empty space became repalced by the water..

Hello Nephi.. I'll go and dig the resource tonight. The experiments I did in youtube were my kids homework. I'll msg u once i found the book-- lots of experiments in it  but we have to find the conclusion by ourselves.

The hotter the air inside the bottle, the more water it sucks...heat up the bottle before you use it and it will suck a lot of water. :D
