yes you can sift the recovered granules and reuse them (as long as you catch it in a pan or other clean container), some places will regrind the solidified slag and reuse it also (normally mix it 50/50 with new or recovered granules)
hey guys, sub arc has been round since the 30s developed by old man linchlon himself, so dont sweat loseing ur job, lots of bigs tanks are welded with sub arc, (horozontal and floor seams). no stick or mig root passes required unless ur fit up is gappy, tight fit up required to prevent nuking rite thru ur joint.
the machine i used to run was twin boom,twin wire,2"wide oscillated weld.and you can put a hori/verti weld down....IF ya no what u doin!oh,yes it is a stoners job,i know!!!!

@stu67456 nah, i believe you can only run flat position, so anything else has to be run by hand. Just like running a robot, only so much it can do.
