you have to run your filter to the outside of the engine bay or its not a cold air intake its a ram air that pull engine bay heat into the engine,,,,,,,,a true coldairintake will out perform a stock set up all the time ,,,,but the " ramair" system has some how picked up a name that is for another intake system that pulls "cold" air from outside of the car,,,",RAM AIR INTAKES "ARE NOT "COLD AIR INTAKES? !!!!
you said it yourself... you had mentioned free'er flowing air. That is the main reason I use CAI's.
On my 97 grand cherokee with 5.2L I noticed more power and 1.5mpg average gain. Not bad for $20 on ebay. I can almost garuntee it was sucking in hotter air than stock setup :P
