theres a certain level (the one with the mountains) where you can actually beat caesar, it is close every time but if you play your cards right he cant kill you!
I rember this game when I was growing up as a teenager when this game came out love the fact that this Roman game was all about money, and resources not like most of the other dumb games like Age Of Empires or other games I loved this game over Caesar 4 because let's be honest it's more simplestic I didn't ever really win on Caesar 4 But this one I won all the time had trouble at the end though!!!
I played the shit out of this game. Caesar is always the biggest problem because he doesn't understand how a huge investment you just made can actually -gasp- make money in the future and sends the entire fucking roman army to kill you because he thinks you've misappropriated his funds. It's almost impossible to get him to like you by the time his army comes so you pretty much have to waste MORE money to build an army just for Caesar, which pisses him off more, another army, etc.
@tommusicfan19 Dude once he sent his army and I defeated him, so he sent like a million more and levelled my city. But the troops just stayed in one area. I kept building prefectures and they all went to battle the army. lol
I think I eventually gave up cause it would take like 500 million prefects.
@kirby4d I had a map where I surrounded the entrance with towers, kicking the shit out of caesar's legions. The max amount of soldiers he sent to me was maybe 200-250 but the towers + army took him down. Later I got a message from him saying I was hailed by Rome for opposing Caesar. He kept attacking me now and then before I reached a favor of 35 and above.
wow that's cool man.. i tired the same strategy in the past but i was short of workers and towers weren't completely manned.. couldn't survive too long.. that's real cool what u did though a lot of players can't pull it off.
@msakallioglu Yeah, that was really fun.The map was Lutetia, and I basically made a ghetto next to the wall so the towers were populated - maybe 25 towers in total. By placing legions right next to the wall, Caesar's legions will attack them instead of the towers, effectively preventing them attacking the city itself. But by the third wave (If I remember correctly) and further on, the amount of soldiers was just insane, and he broke through sometimes. If you kill many fast, he may also turn back
@kirby4d I remeber my gladiators fighting and lion tamers, and beasting the shit out of his soldiers. I was a balista/tower whore so my entire city was LAIRED with them. I always built my city off to the side, so the entrance exit and outer layers were walled with towers. He never stood a chance.
I take they didnt go for the the "Was just a mistake" excuse which seems popular among politicians these days. Now sending them off to the galleys, that would be a fitting punishment to introduce again : )
I think the American presidents should play Caesar III, just so they can learn the consequences of going into debt. If Obama had an emperor, he would be either at the point of "Baaaaaaaaaaah!" or "You will mock Caesar no more!"
i have a working and hard copy of this game.its a pain to get the highest level of the housing(the final level of villas which needs 3x3 space i think)
For the God's Wrath, Ceres sends locusts to the farms, Mars does something to your armies, Mercury burns down your treasury, Neptune causes storms at sea, and Venus seemed to have made everyone depressed.
Always good fun to let Neptune rot when you're on a map with no sea trade or fishing.

gods are douchebags sometimes... cause if you build them temple then the others gets unhappy...
picorettte 1 year ago
@picorettte
I noticed that as well!!!
The trick is once U build a temple for one god just make sure you build one for all of them so they all feel valued may be a pain but it works!!!

@tommusicfan19 i found two trick :
- build a bridge and a few houses on an island and when they get on it, destroy the bridge. Then they are stuck forever xD
- do walls and towers around your streets so when the walk anywhere in the city they get bombard all the time
its hard but makable

Mars gives huge moral loss...essentually they refuse to leave the forts, really bad.
TheZZ109 2 years ago
@Rtkat3
Mars makes the soldiers less motivated which makes the them perform alot worse in battles
