dont use hammer for tapping and removing air bubbes.often it worsens the pblm n causes cracks

at 40+ degrees centigrades, u will have no cracks and ur column will run smoothly n faster (u can control it from the tap)....organic columns go for many days and often for weeks. so have a good column packed at start ok n enjoy DOING ORG-CHEM

note you will have to use two beakers and solvent,

no need to use so much glass-ware like this guy has accumulated everything on his table which is worst in organic chemistry keep ur table clean to avoid confusion.

if u pack column with running of solvent, it will save time, guarantee a better than others fellows, in the evening u will c some crack in columns of other feloows or their column would have been sucked.....xperiment stop.....but this method works even at 40 degree no crack

then keeping a funnel on column mouth and open the tap of column and put another beaker down to collect the solvent and pour that hexane-silica in it (silica will be in hexane so no fear of silica) go on adding it till it fills the column, run more and more solvent and keep the silica very dilute while pouring....your column will be packed as layers of silica upon silica no air bubbles......no cracks if you keep the silica very dilute in n-haxane.

u just over used the lab-glass wares unneceaasarily

I would just clean a column

dry it and hand it on stand erect, put some cotton at the bottom of Column, remember, dont stuff too much cotton it will just block your column

get the Silica Gel Jar in the Fume-Hood and using mask , goggles gloves, will put some silica jel in a beaker in which n-hexane is already poured (as per the lenth of column) and wil let it be like very dilute and then come out of Hood

what the fuck...........new method of packing a coloumn..wow i have been in organic lab..........he is just ass hole.......fills the column with silica powder open without solvent and then dismounts the coloumn from the stand and then starts tapping dry powder in column on table wow......U R GENIOUS
