Not many heroes anymore like old skool Lawler and Tully Blanchard that aren't afraid to put a woman back in her place when she steps out of line and doesn't use her inside voice when appropriate.
she says he better stay in retirement... and how old he is.. the funny thing is... he is still wreslting to this day... long after the Miss texas tilte has passed
why is everyone bitching about this? I'm a woman and I think she deserved it for throwing the first slap! If a female Wrestler mouths off and then slaps a male wrestler she should expect to be slapped back.
I hate angles like this. It doesn't make Lawler a face to hit a woman. He did it with Angel like six years earlier and I hated that angle too. You can always tell the crowd's not into it either. When he slapped her it wasn't a pop like you normally hear, it was more like "whoa." I don't like that.
@CombatSportFan i dont know about that one...according to Lawler, the loudest pop he ever heard at the Coliseum was when he piledrived Angel and he even admitted he was unsure what kind of reaction it would get. But i remember in another match with Rick Rude, lawler punched her and the coliseum popped huge for it. So yeah the crowd's into it as long as there's another heat on the valet.
@halleberrybabydaddy I do know one thing, ECW had many detractors, but there isn't a thing ECW did that Jerry Lawler and Jerry Jarrett didn't book first. For someone with a deep enough video collection that'd actually be a good one to make. Comparing the first times things happened to Memphis to the first time they happened in ECW.
@halleberrybabydaddy Yeah that was a pretty loud pop. I have that one on DVD, and the crowd went freaking NUTS over it. And they did again when he piledrove her a second time a few weeks after.
I still think there is a difference between a piledriver, or another wrestling type hold, which is kind of "cartoonish" in the real world, versus hitting someone in the face. I guess that action is kind of too realistic in a domestic violence sitation. It's battered women, not piledrove women.
@dynamo805 Well it's not very PC but it's what got over in memphis at the time. Plus they had Miss Texas beating up men nightly while she was there at times.
@maddogwrestlingfan I believe it is. If you look close enough you can see the red hair under his mask. He's big enough to be "Taker too. His first gimmick was "Texas Red" so I do think it is him.

@don417 She was a plastic barbie doll about 4 years before Vince hired her.

at that time she was wrestling men nightly and those matches were rough so I don't think that one slap bothered her

@maddogwrestlingfan Nah Taker was already in WWF when this happened. I'm pretty sure the Texas Ranger is either Jeff Gaylord or Rod Price.

pretty surprising to see the violence against women, even if she "deserved it." I know this is wrestling, but still kind of uncomfortable to watch.
