Yep, it's a nutria, otherwise known as Coypu. This isn't a muskrat, muskrats are smaller relatives of Coypu. Muskrat also have a flattened tail, similar to a beaver, these have a rounder, more rat like tail, which is why some people think they are 'giant rats'. Coypu are considered an invasive animal in many countries as they damage flora & fauna and threaten native species.
It is a NUTRIA! It has large orange teeth, a rope tail like a rat, and they migrated from South and Central America up along the Gulf Coast to TX, LA, AL, and Florida where I live. They cause a great deal of damage to banks. My brother had one who lived in his pond drain.
It's a nutria, or coypu. Same Order with the rats (Rodentia), different Family (Myocastoridae). This means it is more closely related to beavers than rats.
It is a nutria, not a capybara. I am a capybara so I know a member of my kind when I see one. Nutria are much more closely related to rats than we are. We look like giant guinea pigs not like giant rats.
A nutria is like a giant muskrat and a muskrat is like a giant rat. Except that none of them are all that closely related. It's pretty hard to tell which this is because there's no way to judge its size and you can't see the tail.
That's not a Capybara. It's a Nutria Rat. Capybaras don't have whiskers like that and they don't behave anything like rats. But most importantly, they look nothing like a rat. lol
This be a nutria (muskrat?). A capibara is a large rodent about the size of a boar It has a large square head like and is rather fat and tailess walking on all fours.
Anabolica rat with beard born in Tschernobyl I guess... pretty rare creature...
