  • You guys know this song was about gun control, not Vietnam, right?

  • the real reason behind the vietnam war was population controll aka the draft, im all for it

  • A+ song

  • beter run through the jungle

  • LET'S TAKE THAT HILL, DUDE!

  • I got here from The Tommyknockers..

  • love my swamp-rock

  • you can take you peace hippie weed smoking bullshit and shove it up your already considerable wide asshole....fags have no respect for our military

    SEMPER FI, CARRY ON

    god bless our troops.

  • Too bad so many people believe the war was necessary even though the reason it was fought was a logical fallacy.

  • I think the point of this song is pick your wars carefully.

  • I think some of the people on here bashing America are cute to be honest. If America didn't exist, the world would be back in the dark ages.

  • i love swamp rock

  • Fav CCR number. Peace only comes in Jesus Christ. Prince of Peace.

  • I LIVED IT AND LOVED IT.......STILL LOVING IT!!!!

  • i love how on every youtube video i go on, EVERYONE Is argueing... fuck people smoke some marijuana and chillllllll the fuck out and float down stream :)

  • @n420cowan couldnt agree more with you

  • @AirCargoHeavy - I dont mean to be disrespectful - just tryin to be objective thats all - and by all means thank god for US geting involved in WWII but going to Vietnam Afganistan and Iraq was little bit to late - It would be okey to finish the job in Iraq by Bush Senior, but anyway problem is that all most influential countries such as US France UK Sweden etc. are selling weapons all around the world to the guys and after few years they call them badies and they go to war:) Thats there freedom

  • @agamattmax it's ok if you feel this way, myself i was there and i wasn't an objective, mayby you should go to nam, iraq, kuwait, afgahnastan.

  • 7 people need to run through the jungle...sky clad!!!

  • vieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetnam war yeah baby

  • vietnam had the BEST soundtrack!

  • @ 50calkinney I think this song is about devil being only one gaining anything from the war I belive only war that justivies killing other people is when someone attack your country and you have to protect it. Lets face it - Vietnam was not that case and lets all be glad that great america was defeated by vietkong - it showed them that they cannot dictate all over the world. Let God have mercy on all american soldiers who invade that small country for no reason at all.

  • @agamattmax America was not defeated by the "vietkong". She was defeated by her leaders -- corrupt men who disgraced America and sent her young men to fight in a war they controlled from their comfortable offices in Washington DC.

And "America" is capitalized. But you know this; you just meant to be disrespectful.

America is the last hope for the free nations of the world. When America's freedom dies, that of the world will die. There is no freedom without the United States.

  • @AirCargoHeavy no freedom if the US doesnt exist? hahaha...that is....that is really funny.

  • @dabeast2411 Well in some ways the US gave us some freedom back... For example WW2, the nazis would've taken away the freedom of the Jews. America stopped that. On the other hand, England etc. all did that too. I agree with you that America's thinking a bit to big about itself but never forget they have the most powerfull army yet to date.:)

  • @ImJorrit USA didnt help a lot, the real fighters were the russians,. USA just cared about japan -.-

  • isnt this about nam?

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaah.

  • The stupid radio program callin out the lottery draft numbers cut off programing before I learned what my number was. My draft number turned out to be 359 and I was able to finish college and avoid the waste of humanity. Had several friends that never came back.

  • @TheSpaghetti64 As I recall the numbers only went to 366... 365 days of the year plus 1 for leap year for a total of 366. I also had a similar situation my number being 356, I finished college, got married, had a family. But I too knew some who didn't make it back.

  • @TheSpaghetti64 My fiance was there & when he got back, had a bad nervous breakdown right in the middle of the Hollywood freeway. CHP called me...

  • Lottery # was 66 My twin brothers was 69 both born in October 52....better run through the jungle and don't look back again....Satan's on da loose...

  • i remember growing up with this music my dad would always blast these guys day and night man i love ccr thanks dad!!

  • The beginning line is "Thought it was a nightmare" , you dummy. What the f_ck is a might mare? Stop reading the lyrics on these dumb lyrics sites, which are from some idiot who can't understand what the hell Fogerty is saying.

  • @brandedmonk "might mare"?? who said that, a douchebag of some sort?

  • "This ain't a VC. Clark ain't. Hatcher, he ain't no VC. Diaz ain't no VC. I ain't. I ain't no fucking VC. Now this? This here's a VC. And you? You I don't know about."

    -Erickson, CASUALTIES OF WAR

  • Fifteen! This is it, Dude! Let's take that hill!

  • i would have loved to lived then EPIC FUCKING ERA

  • @jhoneycutt7854 damn right son

  • @jhoneycutt7854 It's like chasing the dragon; you can't quite get the same rush. However, the nice thing is, if you haven't heard these 'era' songs for a while you get a decent rush. One thing for sure, the body remembers. Signed, been there, dropped in and kept the t-shirt.

  • love it <3

  • 7 people are fucking stupid!!!!!!!!!

  • what a fantastic band! so many fabulous and timeless songs and the driving power of the sound.

  • I will continue to read and find out about Vietnam and the sixties until i feel i can get even an idea of what it must have been like to be there.

Michael Herrs 'Dispatches' has been the closest i have come to being there. It is a truly fascinating read and i can almost feel the sticky heat of the jungle and Hue city.

Now i'm off to watch Tour of Duty.

  • @irnbruirnbru Just don't make the mistake of lots of people and read something and act as though you know it all, remember, nothing can ever give you the real idea unless you were there. Good luck with the research though :)

  • I can't understand why i get an incredibly excited, half sorry-i-wasn't-around-at-the-time feeling when i think of anything Vietnam, mid sixties to mid seventies-esque.

I guess it comes from being completely fascinated with the war and the things going on at the time and i think i know i will never fully understand what it was like.

Not being an American and not being around in the 60's has given me a real interest born out of pure curiosity and confusion about Vietnam.

  • @Pecoccio The vietcong where a bunch of asian men with ak-47s hiding in holes, they kicked our ass because we let them. My best friend was in vietnam, I will quote him "I remember we were out searchin' for em', they ambushed us in dead night. We had 56 men, we had to call into command and ask for permission to engage, they replied negative. All we could do was sit there while they shot at us." If we actually did what was necessary in vietnam we could of crushed them. Kennedy was to wimpy to win.

  • Ak74 - This song was not written or sung about anything that happened in Nam, but I agree with you that we had no business being there.

  • Tropic Thunder brought me here! I'm fucking around. Being my dad's kid did. Thumb this up and I know you're a moron that only read the Tropic Thunder part.

  • This song just says how much BS happended in nam. Fogerty had to be forced into the military and realized that the government didn't want us to win. He fought with both of his hands tied behind his back and watched all his friends get killed because some man didnt want to do what was necessary to win. We had no buisness in nam, we lost many good men, and we changed NOTHING there. We didn't win simply because we were not ALLOWED TO. Ask any nam vet you will hear the same.

  • I always sing this song when I play Jungle on Call of Duty Black Ops

  • Heard this on SKINS! :)

  • holy shit damn nice song!

  • Even though drafted, you need not serve, they sucker you into taking a voluntary oath. (Raise your right hand, take a step forward, repeat after me; etc,) That is a voluntary act, and you are not obligated under any law to raise your hand, step forward, or take that oath. In reality, there was/is no draft, those 'drafted' merely get hoodwinked into volunteering. Is that the sort of system you want to support, the Sucker System? Is this where I say thank you to all the ignorant folk who served?

  • @barto11000

If given a choice to serve in the military, likely most, if not all, young people would not want to give up their lives of privilege and comfort. We would therefore have a weak & sparsely populated military. Is that what you favor? If so you would lose those liberties that you seem to hold so dearly....the ones that you say give you the right to refuse to serve.

  • War is not hell, war takes place here on earth. This will defend.

  • @TheJGrams go through it and tell me if its hell...

  • the US should have just left vietnam alone and they could have saved thousands of lifes. And see the aftermath? the US now has diplomatic relations with vietnam so in all they are now ok

  • The fact of the matter is draft or no it was a call to arms and im proud to say i answered when i was called and would again without question i give u the right to have an opinion so go ahead use it too bash me ill still protect ur right to do so.

  • @50calkinney sir, i thank thee.

  • @50calkinney Democray and Patriotism at heir very finest "Although I disagree with what you say sir, I will defend to the death for your right to say it"

  • @50calkinney i remember being 7 or 8 when the vietnam war went on. i'm glad you fought for our freedom.....every soldier no matter which war should be honored with the highest honer........

  • @481961carla Me too. I guess I'd be about your age. i was watching the war on TV as a kid. The media screwed our troops badly.

  • @50calkinney Thanks 50cal!

  • @50calkinney Thanks for putting your ass on the line for me. you are my hero. I watched the war on TV as a boy. You are my hero.

  • slow hand salute

    @50calkinney

  • @50calkinney thank you brother

  • @50calkinney

A call to arms? It was supposed to be a police action.

  • @cockardo if it was a police action why was our military there......

  • @werewolfz56

You clearly don't understand the meaning of a police action.

Also, I'm Australian not American. Don't just assume everyone is from the US.

  • @cockardo Didnt seem like a Police Action to me mate. I served in 1RAR, Nui Dat as a rifleman and Nasho mate. Police action against a highly organised NVA regular army and Cong as well. I dont think so.

  • @Malloyism

Again, look up what a police action is before saying it wasn't.

Anyway, I wasn't saying it wasn't a war, merely that it wasn't a call to arms. A call to arms in my opinion is only legitimate if it's in defence of your homeland.

  • @werewolfz56 Exactly mate. 60,000 yanks ,516 Aussies,40 odd Kiwis and around 3 millions odd Viets both Nth AND Sth. Thats a war in my book mate.

  • @50calkinney

Man just let me say thank you so much for what you did for our country, i feel like vietnam was not only our worst war but also one of the most vicious on the troops especially as far as a homecoming is concerned, id never bash on you man, im sure you have seen some shit that would give folks in hell goosebumps, mad love and respect for your sacrifice

  • @buttmunch472 YUP freind, nearing 10.000 in Iraq and Afghanistan now so after ten years we have been spared another 50 odd thousand this time compared to Nam, so thats at least a blessing in one way i suppose.

  • @50calkinney im joinin the USMC in acouple yearsthank you for your service and attidude all them basterds that say no peace piss me off you cant have peace without war sounds like me and you are alot alike semper fi and your a badass

  • @50calkinney thank you for your service. My uncle was in vietnam and he cries every time he talks about it.

  • pharoxc, you need to watch the interview here with John Fogerty, the writer of this song, in which he himself explains what the song is about. I don't recall him mentioning anything about NYC or Detroit in the interview, so it seems to me you are way off on this one.

  • Oh man I wanna run through the Jungle just training for now ;)

  • @ Bart011000 -You do know this song is about him being in New York city or detroit cannot remmber what one.....Jungle is a reffernced as him being in big bad city. he was actually against the war 100% back in those days!

  • Google it Shindig.

  • 6 people didnt run through the jungle

  • Hey Skate, I'm 60 yrs old, and I saw through the BS of Vietnam back then, and yes I play video games today, so what. Think what you want, but don't forget, your dog can out-think you bonehead. I doubt you even know what the draft number was even based on in 69. And yes Anuskransje, I did and do " Blame the bastards who seek many ways to start wars".

  • @barto11000 I reckon that you have seen a lot of bullshit...what motivated you guys to fight for another man's cause?

  • @deadomeahead Dude, he was drafted. He didn't volunteer to fight in that war.

  • @MrPuppetChef hit the wrong button first sorry about that

  • @nck8000 Attacked by who? invisible enemy? fucking retard.

  • PEACE AND LOVE

  • dont blame the soldiers dude they think there doing things for the greater good..

I feel sorry for them that they live in that dream world seeing people die that they shoot .. and love... you cant blame them they are to indoctrinated..

Blame the bastards who seek many ways to start wars

  • Walter Sobchak has buddies who died face down in the muck so we could all enjoy this video!

  • <=Retired Vet saying thanks to all the vets, past and present, for all you have done for this country, for all the blood you have spilled, yours and theirs, and for your example to a population less deserving. May you always have steady legs running through the jungle whether its green grass, sandy desert or made of concrete. Keep the faith!!!

  • @KsAdventures Soldiers are soulless vessels who murder for money, sorry man, but it's the truth.

    God bless.

  • @kurziieee Don't leave the part out about sacrificing themselves so you can even have the right to say that. I would love for you to say that me or any of my fellow Marines in person.

  • @shaunusmc21 If you think you are sacrificing yourself for your country you are brainwashed, but that's what soldiers are so I am not surprised.

I hope you will see the light sometime.

  • @kurziieee You know the only reason that you can post a comment like that without getting your balls, hands or head cut off is because of soldiers fighting and dying for your freedom. Get a clue, Sir.

  • @thatgibsonguy0001 Lol stop trolling retard.

  • @kurziieee I am in no way trolling. Im telling you just how good you have it!

  • @thatgibsonguy0001 Ok troll

  • dont mention nam lol went there on holiday it was shit

  • some of the people on youtube what talk about vietnam are mostly just bored little kids what play too many videogames and think they know it all and try and pose as a seviceman in vietnam, its pathetic, and notice how they all say "war is hell" obviously gives it away, but yet people still thumbs it up!

  • It reminds me of being on the back of a Harley Chopper with ape hangers, I'm not talkin 'bout a prissy bike or any of this biker build of stuff. I'm talkin' old school/hard core before that mess was cool.

I used to ride the roads and hang out bumpin long necks, makes me a little rebeleous thinkin' about it!

  • I'M A LEAD FARMER MOTHA' FUCKA'!!!!!!!!!

  • @everythingman987 you nailed it!!!!!

  • @everythingman987 HERE'S MY MUTHAFUCKIN FARM!

  • "Here comes the ran'!"

    :D:D:D

  • This song is so much bigger than Nam or slapping down your sisters boyfriend. Listen and learn. The shit is gonna' hit the fan real soon. You might wanna' think where you are going to run to.

  • @87cadillachearse Good to see someone gets it.

  • @Pantallicadeth Hell yeah brother or sister. It's gonna' rain and rain hard.

  • makes me want to make a time machine go to 1969 and joining the army

  • This song reminds me of driving through Compton during the Rodney King riots.

  • this was the first First CCR song i ever heard,Blew my fuckin mind the first time, and still does.

  • this song plays in my dream while flying a huey over Nam....

  • 41 years ago I had just turned 18, my draft number came over 250, I lucked out. Had a few friends die there, a few more end up in the psych ward after being there. War is hell, don't glorify it. We had no business there, and it changed nothing.

  • @barto11000 whats a draft number?

  • @barto11000 yeah, and that was some lottery to win-the draft, funny thing is

a lot of those gooks are living in this country now

    what a surprise, just saying

    from number 232

  • @barto11000 War is not glorious, and it may not have changed anything but let us not take away from those that sacrificed. Regardeless of what our politicians decided to do takes nothing away from our soldiers, our fallen heroes, drafted or not. SUPPORT YOUR TROOPS!!!!!!!! NOT YOUR POLITICIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @barto11000 god bless u i had 2 or 3 family members that dead there and your right we had no dam reason to be there all the men lost life's for nothing and ill be 18 soon and joining US Marines along with 2 other friends and 1 thats already made into a marine but anyway i just wanted 2 say thanks 2 u and all the other men :)

  • @barto11000 Even though I have never had the experience of going to war, I completely agree with you barto for I was once young and was eager (and mad) to try to do anything possible to change things... now that I've reached an older age, I can't do anything else but support what you say... from Mexico, Rod...

  • @barto11000 maybe im a valiant amerian who wants to serve his country. Hell or not, i want to serve.

  • @barto11000 thanks for serving our country man, much respect to all the military.

  • @barto11000 May we someday learn from our mistakes as a country.

  • im a vet from iraq the urban jungle

  • vietnam

  • This song makes me wanna fly a Huey attack chopper over a jungle lighting the whole fucking place up.

  • 5-people did not made it through the jungle :D

  • @desmann96 It's "make", you American nationalist wannabe. FUCK Europe! Support us in war or fight your own, Pussies.

  • @jackdoldseven sorry for my bad english .... but I do not think you can speak Danish

  • @desmann96 That is because Denmark is mediocre. Don't act like it's the same vise-versa. It isn't. English is international because we have made it that way. I don't speak Danish because you are too petty to make me conform as we have made you.

  • @desmann96 Please don't think that he represents all English people, we aren't all cunts like this one.

  • 8 people are on the mountains

  • This song makes me wanna...Run Trough the Jungle^^

  • 4 people better be hiding in the jungle

  • Oh thought it was a might mare .......

Might Mare? Really..... not just a rad bream?

  • Anyone else think this tune would be good in a scene of C.O.D...

  • @jonlee29

    In Helicopter's.... choogachoogachoogachoogachooga.....

  • @jonlee29 it would be good, for one of the times ur in Nam, they have Fortunate Son playing in the begining of a mission, this is a good song, which r hard to come by now a days

  • These are great days we're living, bros. We are jolly green giants, walking the Earth with guns. These people we wasted here today are the finest human beings we will ever know. After we rotate back to the world, we're gonna miss not having anyone around that's worth shooting.

  • @jackburtonfan Yee Full Metal Jacket!

  • heard this song on skins, pretty cool!

  • Comment removed

  • big lewbowski

  • @kylecrx1 ... ya gotta abide!

  • This song makes me want to go into the wild with an M16 rifle and shoot down everything that fucking moves

  • @draedwillows LOL

  • I ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG....

  • <3 love this song

  • I may not be a CCR fan but I really dig this song. Awesome bluesy feel.

  • Classic! <3

  • This song reminds me of something. Now give me thumbs up for it.

  • My uncle was a hero of Vietnam and we never speak of anything related to the military or war around him because it is so hard on him. But I'll be damned if this song ever fails to bring a smile to his face!!

  • @Garbulator Your uncle is a great American. We need more like him. And yes, this is great music.

  • Great highway driving song

  • man this song reminds me of Brock Lesnar...It almost pumps me up for his fight for UFC 121...but then i remember how much i hate him...

  • @wuttzki haha...thats why i searched for this song...cuz i saw the ufc primetime and they showed brock drvin his moster truck playin this song

  • Should be in a Tarontino movie.

  • I got several older friends that survived Vietnam. Their war stories are the most epic tales of heroism and fighting to survive and to them it was just another day in the neighborhood. Here are some quotes they gave me that kept them going. The Americans will always do the right thing. After they've exhausted all the alternatives. Diplomats are just as essential to starting a war as soldiers are for finishing it. You take diplomacy out of war, and the thing would fall flat in a week.

  • Love this song in Supernatural!

  • What did the guy do?

  • VIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTNNNNNNNNNAAAAMMMMMM

  • also what a bullshit war my dad served an i gotta say hoopte damn do-do

  • @livercheese20 There was a jungle as I remember serving in Vietnam to the lie it be ,however it was never declared a war.

  • the devils on the loose godamn thats fuckin brutal
