  • I was at his number retiring game, no big deal

  • Niedermayer will have the honor to be the first ever Devils player and any other athlete to have their number retired at the Prudential Center. What a way to Christin the young arena.

  • 4 Stevens

    3 Daneyko

    27 Niedermayer

Only appropriate that the first three New Jersey Devils to have their numbers retired were defensemen. Nieds was a special player and it's great to see him get his due.

  • Classic Nieds!

  • Was only around to see the end of Neid's career, but this guy, Scott Stevens, and maybe Elias have to be the Devil's key to their past cups, and maybe one this year :D

  • @Spraycan2312 Forgetting Brodeur?! Well I hope Larsson, Kovalchuk, and Parise can be keys to our next cups!

  • @brosfromothermthrs3 Well no doubt Brodeur was the best goalie who ever played in the NHL. But now you know after the injuries he's not at the top of his game. Hedburg might take us to the playoffs but I can't imagine a cup in the next 3 years, in other words once we get another goalie, we get another cup :D

  • 12/16 jersey retired!

  • I am so sad Scott left New Jersey and then retired, we could really use him right now

  • @hockeymaniac4444 Go to the game against the stars this year the devils are retiring #27, and rightly so.

  • Scott Niedermayer was a fucking boss.

  • scott nidermayer put Paul coffey on a poster

  • @psu68born Yeah, i'm pretty sure this is the play that clinched Scotty Bowman getting rid of Coffey. What the hell was he doing?

  • Well, Vernon almost grabbed it with his glove at the last second, if not almost knocked it away with his stick at the last second there also, but , as is clear from in this video, Niedermayer just chipped it clear enough above Vernon's limbs.

  • Should be captain this year for Canada.

  • Fourteen years later and he's still doing it.

  • Wow, what horrible defense. Could they back up some more? Geez.

  • Ha, it was Coffey and Lidstrom on D there. How many Norris trophies does it take to stop Niedermayer?

  • @97104d

just proves that the Norris rarely goes to the best DEFENSEman

  • Classic Nieds, man could he lead a rush up the ice.

  • and bobby orr;p

  • i want some defensemen to score 100 points again like leetch and coffey and bourque

  • and orr

  • Bourque never had 100 in a year. His career-high was 97.

  • ummm Federov was on that team and I think he won MVP that year..

One of the clutchest playoff goals of all time..

  • Fedorov was '94 MVP. Lindros was MVP this year. haha. him n Jagr were tied for league lead in points but fagdros had more goals.

  • @wald3064

Fedorov got MVP in 94. Fagdros got it in 95

  • I remember that one. It was amazing. I think that is his best goal ever. Pretty stunning.

  • Let's not forget he beat Paul Coffey, folks. Not too shabby of a defenseman...

  • The 21-year-old Niedermayer! Wow! Doesn't seem that long ago!

  • no shit, man...no shit.

  • you have to have an exceptinal presence of mind to react to a careening puck like that.

  • SteveO....totally agree. I have wondered for years why this goal isn't talked about as one of the all time greats. It was already an amazing play BEFORE he missed the shot and knocked it in out of the air.

  • that has to be one of the best goals of all time

  • we miss him...

  • Beautiful end to end dash by Niedermayer.
