hey, try running

sudo apt-get install community-themes gnome-backgrounds gnome-themes-extras

run it in the terminal, type in your password, and wait for it to complete. it installs some extra themes.

The WIFI Is great, the defult theme is basically the same but you can change it to the dark theme. I had some cluster problems but apart from that (purely my fault) Its GREAT!!!

I heard that 8.10 has a bug where when you put your cursor over the close or X button of a window the entire title bar turns white.

That was only in the beta but now the full version is out, it is faster and more reliable i guaruntee :)

Ubuntu has changed it's default theme before. Just not this noticeable.

this can indeed windows vista indeed and i personally recommend it. I personally have a dual boot for windows XP and Ubuntu 8.04. I mostly use Ubuntu because its much faster and its much cooler looking because of the eyecandy. i recommend it you try it with Wubi. (Google it)

you have transperency in XFCE, you can set the level of transperency for inactive windows, panels, etc.

Anyway I wouldn't upgrade just for that.

If you really only want the active window to be non-transparent, why don't you use compiz fusion?
