looks cool, up to what thickness does the magnet work through? gotta say tho, in 3 years of drywalling i've never once cut my self and i use a razer sharp tajima knife to cut mine!
I have this tool. In fact it was sent to me to write a review....problem is the review wasn't positive so never came to be. Neat design and cool video but I can't immagine most pros getting much use out of it. Cutt of ends are a nightmare...not doable. So that just leaves rips which works ok off a full sheet but theres too much force from the tool to cut say a 4 inch rip off an allready cut down sheet unless a line is drawn first and then the sheet held down with one hand, but then why bother.
what i said is there is more time in putting the boards on tressels especially if your by yourself. see one man can get the boards in while the other could be getting some powder in, or tucking the cables into the sockets, or filling the tubs up, but if your both having to put these boards onto tressels fathing about when you haven't got that much room in the room....
what about an average size bedroom, you guna put boards on tressels in 12ft x 14ft bedroom when your boards are 8ft x 4ft. and what about cutting for reaveal, if you have your boards lent against a wall then you need 3 hands with this thing one to hold the board from the other boards to get the runner behind it one to hold you tape and one for the runner, whereas with a stanley you can leave the board leaning against the other boards.
even in a perfect situation ( that dosen't happen on site but does in this video!)the time you may save in cutting you would loose in putting the boards on tressels and have to walk round them all the time...
so you've been in the game 25yrs, big shot, your obviously past your prime so maybe this thing will be ok for someone who's steady away like yourself...
with out a doubt its a good idea and good tool, but 35 quid!!! no chance. i'll beat it!
You must not have watched the whole video. You don't have to have the dry-wall on horses (tressels as you call them) you can cut it leaning on the wall. Why do some people always tried to find a problem with new technology. If you would be more open minded you could use a major time saving tool.
still to cumbersum,, and it means you have to have access to both sides of the board. no good if you put you boards on there sides against a wall (1 man job).. putting them on tressels to access both sides is more of a 2 man job or at least by yourself is more time consuming. plus in the vid when cutting with a knife he turns it over, not needed, just slice through from the side you just snapped. i'd race anyone with one of these. get 10 boards from outside to inside and cut them to suit!
your not reading my post properly look at the video again, look at the studio, its perfect! the boards are already laid on tressel. on a new build, lets say 3 bedroom semi do you think its easier to have the boards on tressels like that, taking up the center of the room or maybe against one wall. yes it cuts faster but there is no reason to turn the board over like in the vid when cutting with a stanley...
Funny how you are telling someone else to rewatch the video, when you didn't watch the whole thing yourself. Or else you would see that your complaint is addressed in the video and is completely unwarranted.
I have one. It doesn't do a nice job, and no... You can't do what he did in teh vid with it leaning on it's side. I don't know how they set that shot up, but it's a pain. It's a good gimmick tool, but it makes a mess on the end of the cut.
also the guy in the add is moving fast when cutting with the runner... brilliant vid for you suckers that will be suck in by it. lol. brilliant!! read what i've posted up there
A proprietary set of high-strength magnets. This allows the bottom half to follow the top half scoring both sides of the board simultaneously. It is a truly amazing tool!
