his most underrated album in my opinion and i liked modern guilt, the whole concept behind it was to make an extreamly clean sounding album, and he was working with a lot of other people (like Danger Mouse) so those influences show in it
according to Q magazine, beck's midnite vultures is number 50 in the list of 50 worst albums of all time. surely this a typing error. i'm pretty sure that it's meant to be on the best.
@BlackburdyTelevision ...what the f%$k is Q magazine? If you have a music magazine, insure someone has actually heard of it. I wouldnt recognize them....and Spin hasnt even been around that long.
I can listen Beck albums from the beginning to the end, complete, he's the only artist that keeps my atention in such way.. midnite vultures was the first cd I listened from Beck, I love this man since then..
I still crack up at how Beck takes the things that are popular yet absurd, and makes them even more absurd, and it WORKS. The whole "uhh" thing from Master P in this case, that was popular at the time, and the (always) zany lyrics... Used to listen to this one all the time in college. Awesome.
Alterac is absolutely right- it doesn't matter what the hell he's saying, it's all schizophrenic anyways (I think for the better). And btw closedgl, next time your chilling with your stoner friend, you can ask him what a nug is ; )
@LegaliseWackyTobacky Modern Guilt was a huge disappointment IMO. Everything from Mellow Gold to Information is awesome though. Midnite Vultures is my personal favorite.
I've always liked this song. Certainly this is the only thing I wanted to hear after the first 4 tracks. It may not be as well-liked or respect an album as Odelay, Mellow Gold, or Mutations, but he really couldn't have done much better than these first 5 songs. It's a good Beck album opening if there ever was one.
Ahh not a bad Beck track at all. I'll have to forgive him for being a Scientologist (sorry, controversal opinion, I know *wink*), but a damn fine artist.
He's also said to be against Halloween as a holiday. Which is insane considering his "way out" personality, but this is what I've heard. Is he crazy? Or have I heard wrong?
I never, ever want to imagine world without Halloween - it's my favorite day of the year! Yeah, I've heard some things too, I wouldn't be surprised :-)
This is from Midnite Vultures, 1999 - I think by the time this came out, I'd seen Beck like, 10 times! LOL ... this is my favorite album of his. I remember sitting outside Tower Records waiting for it.

Beck really loves mocking pop culture, especially club culture, on this album but he makes it so groovy. Prince would laugh his butt off.
