He got the 12 from the FOIL method (first, outer, inner, last). He multiplies x by x (first), x by -6 (outer), x by -6 (inner), then -6 by -6 (last). He got the -12 because you end up with x^2-6x-6x+36 but you simplify it to -12x because -6-6=-12. Hope that helped!

@hunter10nw Simple. 9+4=13. There's the 13x from the trinomial. 9x4=36. That's the 36 from the end of the trinomial. Trial and error and Rainbow Method will both give you the same answer. I can explain the Rainbow Method (it's awesome!) if you want.

OR you can use this formula

D=b*b-4*a*c

B being the x

A being X square

C being the normal number

Then when you have the answer you find the square root and then add it to (-b) then divide it by 2. You have the First answer

Now do the same as above except you substract then you have the other one :D

-2 time -2 equals four, therefor it was squared. This means that the square root of 4 could be -2. -2+6=4. And when x is supposed to equal four, this makes sense.

50 minutes (times 7 classes) = 350 minutes

2 minutes (times 7 classes) 14 minutes.

Include lunch, and I could have a school day's worth of information in less than an hour. Why do we go to school again?

No the squareroot is always positve, but the equation x^2 = 4 has two answers: x = 2 and x=-2

There is a big difference. If the squareroot of x would had a negative root as well

f(x) = sqrt x couldn't be accept as a function since it gives two y values to one x value.

fondmax. The square root of 4 can not equal -2 because there is a rule stating that the square root of a base value is equal the the positive square root of that base value. It's also known as the principal square root. To get the negative square root of your base value, you have to put a negative sign in front of the square root. The only way to have a negative under a radical is if you have it raised to an index of an odd value.

If you square terms in an equation you end up with extra numbers. Therefore, if you square terms, always plug the outcome back into the original equation to check if it really is a solution.
