the russian ERA is good but only fully effective for a single strike as is all reactive armor. After a single hit it effectiveness gose down the toilet. As for the comment about five APFSDS rounds being fired at it the test were also fired at five seperate peices of ERA making the test null and void. If you had fired five rounds of APFSDS at the same point on the T-90 it would have easily destryed it. The APFSDS depleated uranium round is able to penatrate 36" of armor spec steel.

The new generation russian tanks have never been combat tested adainst the West's best tanks yet. Most people compare the performace of the T-72 against M1A1 in the gulf War, which is not fair. IMO they are on equal terms since the reflex missle gives the T-90 the same range of engagement as M1.

Abrams tank was designed in the 1970's, the T90 design was developed in 1993. It took them that long to build a tank capable of destroying an Abrams tank.

The T90's armor plating is inferior to the M829E3 round. The Russians cannot brag for too much longer.

The lower part of a T90's tracks are unprotected meaning instead of penetrating the armor, we could just fire a round at its tracks and immobilize it to an air strike. Who the fuck needs strong armor then.

T-90 is a great tank same with the M1, but remember in tank combat Who's see who first and lands a round in that counts. T-72 took out a M1 in Golf war 1. The M1 was made to take the hit and keep the poeple inside alive which is the Main goal of the makers. M1 tank was disabled but not destroyed. This t 72 taking out a M1 tank is very rare but this T 72 got in close in range of the M1 before being spoted by Air and the tanks Night scope

Until Russia develops a tank with blow out panels for its spare ammunition, they will never have a better tank. T-90 is just a glorified T-72, unless India does something drastic with it its not in the same class as the M1 or Lep2 or Ch2. Both the M1 series and T-90 have pro's and cons.

It all depends on the kind of battlefield they're in.

In 2 tests the T-90 was the only tank to reach the finish of the testing field over rough terrain twice as first. The Leopard reached the end once behind the T-90.

The second time it's track broke. On both tests a track of the M1A1 broke.

T-90 has a clear advantage over rough grounds and its low profile makes it difficult to target.
