Man.C.I. is Located Just north of Mansfield on the east side of Oh. St. Rt.13. If you are at O.S.R. and look to the N.W. you can see Man.C.I. across the field. Located just North of O.S.R. off St. Rt. 545 is Richland Correctional Institute (Ric.C.I.) and these were and are Prisons Not jails.
my brother is in richland prison its right next door to the castle when i go see him we park in the parking lot at the castle it crazy i never been in it my brother says lots of people go there he has been there for almost 5 years he gets out augest 10 can't wait
Very nice video, it's too bad you could not have seen it in action. I worked there and made the rank of Sgt. before relocating to the new Mansfield Correctional Institution. I was in the Shawshank Redemption movie and played the role of the "Holeguard" . I also was in "Tango and Cash" and an extra in "Air Force One". I have worked in the so called "Modern day Prison" and would go back to OSR in a minute. It truly is a great facility and did make an impact on the inmates who lived there.
i went to the prison with my best friend in 2006 it was the greatest experience i could have ever had as a professional ghost hunter and a movie viewer. i want everyone to help restore this beautiful site to it's formar glory!
I live in the town in Ohio where this was filmed, I just took a tour of the prison, it's so cool. My dad was a firefighter hired to stay on the movie set. He said "Capt. Hadley" was just as big an asshole on the set as he was in the movie. ...and the warden was bald, he's wearing a wig. Another fireman got picked to drive the ambulance away with Boggs in it. It didn't have an engine...they we're pulling it! It was broke down. ...he said Tim Robbins was like 6'5" or better.
I grew up about 2 miles from this prison on Bowman St. One time our bus got stuck in the snow and they took all of us students to the Correctional Facility until our parents could get us.

It's not the Masfield Correctional Facility, the actual name is The Reformatory. The Mansfield Correctional Institute is the Jail now that is right down the street from the Reformetory.

yeah I was there from 1979 to 1980
spent 3 months inside the walls and 8 months at the J-Dorm honor farm. that was about 1 mile away from the walls.
