Ok, who is this book about, because it isn't about Paul Atreides. How can you read Frank Herberts books and get it so completely wrong? I'm not expressing an opinion, I mean Paul of Dune has the kind of factual mistakes that can't be made by someone who is at all familiar with the original material. This drivel detracts from the real story in a dangerous way, For goodness sake, please stop screwing with a masterpeice!
@Johnlindsey289 seriously, I can't read these new books....Herbert Sr. is too tough an act to follow and though I doubt there's any lust for money from either of these two authors (they're both very well off) the rate at which these books have been cranked out seems to put quantity over quality....the gaps between the original books are there for a reason; to allow the readers minds to infer what may have taken place - this contibutes to the imaginative experience in my opinion
I prefer the new books over the originals, but I must agree with you, John, that they have been produced quite quickly.
I don't think they can match Frank's style(not quite my taste), so each new chapter they add to the Dune series is split into three books, whereas with Frank it would have been one...
There never was a question in my mind that Dune Messiah was the logical conclusion to Paul's success in Dune. I find it suprising to hear of any backlash against it. Paul's struggles were realistic ans not idealistic. creating a sence of the realistic in SF? That has to be clever.

I thought the book couldn't get darker and then (spoiler alert) they have girls under the age of ten killing each other.

These new books feel like fanfiction at times.

Isn't he writing another book? The Throne of Dune I think.

I had the pleasure of meeting Brian Herbert and shaking his hand. He even signed my copy of "The Battle of Corrin". A very memorable experience.

Can't wait to read it. Hunters and Sandworms were great reads but it will be nice to get back to the time of Muad'dib.
