Many have been concerned about presidency of Obama, and yet it seems he might be one of the best US presidents of all time judging not by the results of his work, but his personality and sane logical choices. @skylermws Here's a clue. Your belief boils down to faith. Would you like to stand trial in a court of law where evidence against you wasn't required, only the jury's faith in the testimony of your accusers?

@qw2589 You have no idea...but you are not telling me anything I don't already know. Yes, the belief in an invisible being who takes concern in our affairs is irrational and ridiculous.

@whiteliketar It actually happens more quickly than that. Case in point: Dogs as you know them, as pets of various shapes and sizes and colours and ability, are descended from gray wolves, guided by humans as the selector in their differentiation into various forms. If we could get chihuahuas from wolves in thousands of years, just thing what you could do with millions or billions.
@BigMikeMcBastard - right but just beacuse there are a bunch of morons who agree that jumping off Mount Everest with an umbrella is the same as having a parachute desen't mean you should join them.
@whiteliketar I agree, people should believe what they feel is right and not what others think is right, which is why I'm an atheist and not a theist. I look around me and I see a world that requires no god to exist. How could I lie to myself and pretend that I see a god in all of it? And which god? The Muslim god? The Christian god? Many choices...
By the way, your criticisms of evolution are sort of silly. You really should educate yourself on a topic before you go on tirades against it.
@BigMikeMcBastard - Look mr know-it -all even if evolution did occur the way you want it to - it would still be a miracle only the God of the Bible could effect - You can't wish God away no matter how desperately you want to. You want desperately to wipe God out of the equation of life and death and choice and morality - Homo Sapiens is too sophisticated for your 3 year old atheist mentality that levels the playing field between man and a cockroach.
@whiteliketar You need to take care not to conflate wishing something away with not having ever seen any validity in the notion to begin with. You seem to think atheists are actively fighting to suppress an idea they know is true but refuse to accept, which is nonsense. We're wishing away your god of the bible as much as you're wishing away the gods of the ancient Egyptians.
And personally, if I had to choose a god, I wouldn't pick one as cruel and evil as the biblical one. Odin is where it's at
@BigMikeMcBastard - The universe screams creator - the basics of Bio-chemistry scream creator - The Bible is right for saying ' the Fool says in his heart there is no God'
You desperately want there to be no God because you want your sexual deviances without any accountability.- Admit it - At the heart of every atheist true problem is his addiction to some sort of sexual deviance - I would laugh in your face if it wasn't so sad and pathetic.
@whiteliketar It's weird how obsessed with sex you are for someone who ascribes 'deviant' sexual proclivities to his detractors.
Anyway, if you want sexual deviations without accountability you can look no further than the clergy of the Christian faith. What was that new motto of theirs? "No child's behind left"? Even if there were any need or desire for there to be a god in the universe, who'd pick the one that has institutionalized child rape on a global scale? Why go with the pedophiles?
@BigMikeMcBastard - I have no love for the Roman Church - it is a shell of its former self. That stupid church has been weakened because it has allowed homosexuals in and everyone knows that your Homo friends are a bastion of sin and deviancy and pedophilia. Most Catholics are so left wing that their homosexual friends which atheists agree with have rotted out their belief system. Anywhere atheists go with their world outlook will always result in sexual deviancy.
@whiteliketar Right, and yet their belief in your particular deity and their fondness of your particular holy book do nothing to dissuade them from indulging their own impulses. And yet, there you were, suggesting that strange sexual tendencies are somehow the realm of atheists exclusively.
And that's not to mention the number of Republican politicians in the US who have been outed or who've outed themselves as homosexuals. Right wing protestants hiring male prostitutes or giving BJs? I see...
@BigMikeMcBastard - you are all over the place - if you don't read or understand the Bible you wouldn't have a chance of understanding original sin or even morality. Everything to an atheist is based on messed up relative truth. In any case continuing this discussion with you is like playing chess with a clay pigeon. Read the Bible and get some sense into that hard head of yours.
@whiteliketar Yeah, I've read it. And who gets their morality from the Bible? Let's ask the Amalekites what they think of Biblical morality. Or how about the Midianites, what do they think? Oh, that's right, god ordered his follows to commit genocide upon them and others. I guess it's moral to murder entire groups of people if god is telling you to do it, huh?
Your religion is as sick and immoral as the men who invented it. You're a hypocrite and a fool and your religion is a sham. Good day.
@BigMikeMcBastard -' Yeah - I've read it" That's why you are a clay pigeon - But you would want God to kill Hitler as a baby...how about child rapists...How about the muslim fanatics who slit the throats of the pilots of 911 - .How about If God took care of them in a little 'genocide'. You are just parroting what you heard other atheists repeat like mindless apes. Get a life...and when you read something - read it in context . Your atheism is a sham .Good day!
That's not true that every president has been a christard. Jefferson was by all accounts a deist, and many claim that Washington and Adams was as well.
You could be Athiest and run for president have a plan that would make the world great but because of religious people that wont vote for them then they cant win. Fuck Religion
I'd like to think he isn't a man of faith, but in order to remain a skeptic I can't be sure. I don't want to end up believing something for there is little evidence for. =)
the problem with religion is one exactly as you pointed out. it is unfair because if he did run as an athesist, everyone would hate him. but i feel that if God was real, he would more likely not send an atheist to hell for he knows the extent of our minds and he obviously has no inteaction with us, than he would send a devout christian to hell for deeming an atheist heretic, for that would in fact violate the 3rd commandment and is injust to our freedom of religion
when you get to the point where he says it's phenomenal that obama recognizes people other than christian, you realize the video maker is a retard. You don't have to go further than George Bush to see that PHENOMENAL PHENOMENON. That being said, the video maker is obviously retarded. Therefore you know he loves the idea that we have a lying president.
every president has said they are christian but clearly they are not seeign how non of them followed christ standards. the usa is too religous and would rather vote in a president with faith than with a functioning brain.
@Walnut1871 Seems like you enjoy going around on atheist based videos and picking fights with people who don't share the same beliefs as you. I can't say it's not typical, but you know whatever?
IF obama said he was an atheist while campaigning, he would have handed the presidency over to Mccain in a split second. Its sad that our country is still that fucking stupid hold religion as highyl as we do
@wookie72 aren't most people influence by their parents religious beliefs ?? well if BOTH of his parents were atheist, and his hero in life (Abe Lincoln) was also an atheist then what do you really think his is ?? THINK
@mysterymediacorp Um... first of all, Lincoln was not an atheist and never claimed to be. He was not an orthodox Christian, which is not the same thing at all.
Second of all, if people were "influenced by their parent's religious beliefs," and somehow kept to that, then there would be no atheists with religious parents, which is not true.
In any case, the whole point of this piece is entirely conjecture and speculation. It fails any test of logic.
@wookie72 Lincoln stated that Christianity was basically rubbish (so labeling him an atheist or agnostic,ect..serves the point for my debate). Point is, not all but MOST people ARE influenced by their parents belief systems...and he said in his book ''Audacity of Hope" that he joined a religion as a political tool to reach people (if you read between the lines of his comments on that part of his book)
@mysterymediacorp Lincoln said that? Provide proof, please. He read the Bible back and forth, and frequently discussed and quote from scripture. I have never heard of a direct statement where he said that Christianity was nonsense.
No, you want it both ways. You want to claim that people who turn to atheism in spite of their background are sincere, whereas people who turn to religion in spite of their background are not.
"read between the lies." In other words, you have no actual proof.
@wookie72 Search it up on Google; it's there. Sorry if that's too vague, and I would provide sources if this wasn't YouTube. And I think what he meant when he stated "read between the lines," he meant his comments, you know, those little parentheses remarks that are put in there so that the reader knows there's a thought in the middle of the sentence? Or perhaps on the bottom of the page? (Commentary is literally put between the lines so that the reader can finish the other thought later).
"Read between the lines" suggests that there is some hidden meaning. But nobody has anything other than conjecture that Obama is an atheist.
Hell, even PZ Myers, a very vocal atheist, has said that when you apply Ockham's Razor to Obama's claims of belief, he seems to be sincerely religious. So unless you have hard evidence that Obama is an atheist, there's nothing there.
And I there is plenty of evidence. He clearly supports many secular values (stem cell research, abortion issues, gay marriage, etc......There is no PROOF, but there is plenty of EVIDENCE. Sorry to piss in your cheerios.
@mase5701 Um, sorry, but that isn't evidence. I'm religious and support all of those things. They are not "secular values", they're progressive vaslues. And you can be progressive and religious.
And last I checked, he doesn't support gay marriage.
@happycrazedyouth why are you thumbs downing this guy he is right.. its not secular.. yet it was founded by secularists... we just let religion slip back into politics
Why would you "believe" he is an atheist where belief is based on pure speculation and assumption? Believing he is an atheist is about as accurate as believing Jesus was God.
Just curious why any atheist would "believe". I personally have seen a lot of people speculating he is a closet atheist and there is no sure evidence, only pure speculation and inconsistencies. That's not evidence. That's not science.
Belief is indeed not only for theists. It's also for idiots. When there is a choice to remain neutral on a subject you have no clear evidence for (only inconsistent speculation and assumption), please remain neutral instead of showing stupidity.
It is obviously your (!)believe(!) that evidence and science are necessary attributes of the atheism. Why are you so sure about it, when there are plenty of examples (911 thruthers, Zeitgeist people) of the opposite? How do you know that evidence/science are required by all atheists? Do you believe that there are no idiot atheists out there?
He's a highly educated and very intelligent man, and it's an undeniable fact that most such people are non-believers. Every study, every survey ever done on the subject have shown that the higher IQ people have(or the higher education), the less they tend to have superstitious/religious beliefs. Of course there are ecxeptions to any rule, but it is most likely that he is not religious, yes.Cheers!
You make a good case. I've always felt that Obama's conversion story seemed less than convincing. The recognition of the "power of the African-American religious tradition to spur social change" does not a Christian make. That's more of a sociological observation. One can't blame Obama for this masquerade; it may be possible, as Christopher Hitchens thinks, that Americans would find it in their hearts to vote for a confirmed atheist, but Obama surely would not want to make himself the test case.
Obama is a liberal Democrat and a Christian. That describes everything that he has said and done. There is a significant difference between the viewpoints of liberal Christians and conservative Christians. Both sides of the equation merge their religion with everything else they believe and ignore anything that disagrees with what they already believe. The most vocal Christians are of course conservative ones, which is why you believe Obama is not a Christian.
Obama is the most religious President we have had since Carter. He named his autobiography after a sermon his pastor preached. he frequently uses biblical references in his speeches, doing so even in his inaugural. Sure Bush is a born again Christian, but you get the sense that Laura is the driving force in his family's religious life.
@DailyDoseOfReason However, you have no actual proof that Obama is not religious. "He's too smart" is not an argument. As well, your argument about his comments on science is again very tenuous.
"Obama is not actually a believer, he's too smart"
I've always found that part off about him, considering he is very smart. Well I have a deeper level of respect for him now than before.

If we could get chihuahuas from wolves in thousands of years, just thing what you could do with millions or billions.

@BigMikeMcBastard - right but just beacuse there are a bunch of morons who agree that jumping off Mount Everest with an umbrella is the same as having a parachute desen't mean you should join them.
whiteliketar 1 year ago
@whiteliketar I agree, people should believe what they feel is right and not what others think is right, which is why I'm an atheist and not a theist. I look around me and I see a world that requires no god to exist. How could I lie to myself and pretend that I see a god in all of it? And which god? The Muslim god? The Christian god? Many choices...
By the way, your criticisms of evolution are sort of silly. You really should educate yourself on a topic before you go on tirades against it.
BigMikeMcBastard 1 year ago
@BigMikeMcBastard - Look mr know-it -all even if evolution did occur the way you want it to - it would still be a miracle only the God of the Bible could effect - You can't wish God away no matter how desperately you want to. You want desperately to wipe God out of the equation of life and death and choice and morality - Homo Sapiens is too sophisticated for your 3 year old atheist mentality that levels the playing field between man and a cockroach.
whiteliketar 1 year ago
@whiteliketar You need to take care not to conflate wishing something away with not having ever seen any validity in the notion to begin with. You seem to think atheists are actively fighting to suppress an idea they know is true but refuse to accept, which is nonsense. We're wishing away your god of the bible as much as you're wishing away the gods of the ancient Egyptians.
And personally, if I had to choose a god, I wouldn't pick one as cruel and evil as the biblical one. Odin is where it's at
BigMikeMcBastard 1 year ago
@BigMikeMcBastard - The universe screams creator - the basics of Bio-chemistry scream creator - The Bible is right for saying ' the Fool says in his heart there is no God'
You desperately want there to be no God because you want your sexual deviances without any accountability.- Admit it - At the heart of every atheist true problem is his addiction to some sort of sexual deviance - I would laugh in your face if it wasn't so sad and pathetic.
whiteliketar 1 year ago
@whiteliketar It's weird how obsessed with sex you are for someone who ascribes 'deviant' sexual proclivities to his detractors.
Anyway, if you want sexual deviations without accountability you can look no further than the clergy of the Christian faith. What was that new motto of theirs? "No child's behind left"? Even if there were any need or desire for there to be a god in the universe, who'd pick the one that has institutionalized child rape on a global scale? Why go with the pedophiles?
BigMikeMcBastard 1 year ago
@BigMikeMcBastard - I have no love for the Roman Church - it is a shell of its former self. That stupid church has been weakened because it has allowed homosexuals in and everyone knows that your Homo friends are a bastion of sin and deviancy and pedophilia. Most Catholics are so left wing that their homosexual friends which atheists agree with have rotted out their belief system. Anywhere atheists go with their world outlook will always result in sexual deviancy.
whiteliketar 1 year ago
@whiteliketar Right, and yet their belief in your particular deity and their fondness of your particular holy book do nothing to dissuade them from indulging their own impulses. And yet, there you were, suggesting that strange sexual tendencies are somehow the realm of atheists exclusively.
And that's not to mention the number of Republican politicians in the US who have been outed or who've outed themselves as homosexuals. Right wing protestants hiring male prostitutes or giving BJs? I see...
BigMikeMcBastard 1 year ago
@BigMikeMcBastard - you are all over the place - if you don't read or understand the Bible you wouldn't have a chance of understanding original sin or even morality. Everything to an atheist is based on messed up relative truth. In any case continuing this discussion with you is like playing chess with a clay pigeon. Read the Bible and get some sense into that hard head of yours.
whiteliketar 1 year ago
@whiteliketar Yeah, I've read it. And who gets their morality from the Bible? Let's ask the Amalekites what they think of Biblical morality. Or how about the Midianites, what do they think? Oh, that's right, god ordered his follows to commit genocide upon them and others. I guess it's moral to murder entire groups of people if god is telling you to do it, huh?
Your religion is as sick and immoral as the men who invented it. You're a hypocrite and a fool and your religion is a sham. Good day.
BigMikeMcBastard 1 year ago
@BigMikeMcBastard -' Yeah - I've read it" That's why you are a clay pigeon - But you would want God to kill Hitler as a baby...how about child rapists...How about the muslim fanatics who slit the throats of the pilots of 911 - .How about If God took care of them in a little 'genocide'. You are just parroting what you heard other atheists repeat like mindless apes. Get a life...and when you read something - read it in context . Your atheism is a sham .Good day!

@whiteliketar The bible says horrible shit. It's an evil book. There is no context that completely reverses that.

the problem with religion is one exactly as you pointed out. it is unfair because if he did run as an athesist, everyone would hate him. but i feel that if God was real, he would more likely not send an atheist to hell for he knows the extent of our minds and he obviously has no inteaction with us, than he would send a devout christian to hell for deeming an atheist heretic, for that would in fact violate the 3rd commandment and is injust to our freedom of religion

@wookie72 aren't most people influence by their parents religious beliefs ?? well if BOTH of his parents were atheist, and his hero in life (Abe Lincoln) was also an atheist then what do you really think his is ?? THINK
mysterymediacorp 1 year ago 2
@mysterymediacorp Um... first of all, Lincoln was not an atheist and never claimed to be. He was not an orthodox Christian, which is not the same thing at all.
Second of all, if people were "influenced by their parent's religious beliefs," and somehow kept to that, then there would be no atheists with religious parents, which is not true.
In any case, the whole point of this piece is entirely conjecture and speculation. It fails any test of logic.
wookie72 1 year ago
@wookie72 Lincoln stated that Christianity was basically rubbish (so labeling him an atheist or agnostic,ect..serves the point for my debate). Point is, not all but MOST people ARE influenced by their parents belief systems...and he said in his book ''Audacity of Hope" that he joined a religion as a political tool to reach people (if you read between the lines of his comments on that part of his book)
mysterymediacorp 1 year ago
@mysterymediacorp Lincoln said that? Provide proof, please. He read the Bible back and forth, and frequently discussed and quote from scripture. I have never heard of a direct statement where he said that Christianity was nonsense.
No, you want it both ways. You want to claim that people who turn to atheism in spite of their background are sincere, whereas people who turn to religion in spite of their background are not.
"read between the lies." In other words, you have no actual proof.
wookie72 1 year ago
@wookie72 Search it up on Google; it's there. Sorry if that's too vague, and I would provide sources if this wasn't YouTube. And I think what he meant when he stated "read between the lines," he meant his comments, you know, those little parentheses remarks that are put in there so that the reader knows there's a thought in the middle of the sentence? Or perhaps on the bottom of the page? (Commentary is literally put between the lines so that the reader can finish the other thought later).
FroFroDaJimmyBoy 1 year ago
@FroFroDaJimmyBoy So, no, there is no evidence.
So unless you have hard evidence that Obama is an atheist, there's nothing there.
wookie72 1 year ago
And I there is plenty of evidence. He clearly supports many secular values (stem cell research, abortion issues, gay marriage, etc......There is no PROOF, but there is plenty of EVIDENCE. Sorry to piss in your cheerios.
mase5701 1 year ago
@mase5701 Um, sorry, but that isn't evidence. I'm religious and support all of those things. They are not "secular values", they're progressive vaslues. And you can be progressive and religious.
And last I checked, he doesn't support gay marriage.

Why would you "believe" he is an atheist where belief is based on pure speculation and assumption? Believing he is an atheist is about as accurate as believing Jesus was God.
tiptiptapable 2 years ago
This belief is being backed up with evidence, and he isn't telling you that you have to believe it.
kevinscales 2 years ago 2
Just curious why any atheist would "believe". I personally have seen a lot of people speculating he is a closet atheist and there is no sure evidence, only pure speculation and inconsistencies. That's not evidence. That's not science.
tiptiptapable 2 years ago
Belief is not only for theists. I personaly don't believe he is atheist but this guy is welcome to his beliefs
kevinscales 2 years ago
Belief is indeed not only for theists. It's also for idiots. When there is a choice to remain neutral on a subject you have no clear evidence for (only inconsistent speculation and assumption), please remain neutral instead of showing stupidity.
tiptiptapable 2 years ago

Of course there are ecxeptions to any rule, but it is most likely that he is not religious, yes.Cheers!
winterstellar 2 years ago 3
You make a good case. I've always felt that Obama's conversion story seemed less than convincing. The recognition of the "power of the African-American religious tradition to spur social change" does not a Christian make. That's more of a sociological observation. One can't blame Obama for this masquerade; it may be possible, as Christopher Hitchens thinks, that Americans would find it in their hearts to vote for a confirmed atheist, but Obama surely would not want to make himself the test case.
donquickoats 2 years ago
Obama is a liberal Democrat and a Christian. That describes everything that he has said and done. There is a significant difference between the viewpoints of liberal Christians and conservative Christians. Both sides of the equation merge their religion with everything else they believe and ignore anything that disagrees with what they already believe. The most vocal Christians are of course conservative ones, which is why you believe Obama is not a Christian.
pashrak 2 years ago
Obama is the most religious President we have had since Carter. He named his autobiography after a sermon his pastor preached. he frequently uses biblical references in his speeches, doing so even in his inaugural. Sure Bush is a born again Christian, but you get the sense that Laura is the driving force in his family's religious life.

Anyways, why do you think that clip at the end has anything to do with religion? Because he's talking about science?
If you feel that science goes against your religion, there's nothing wrong with science. There's something REALLY wrong with your religion.
