In Germany right after WW2 the Russians knew better than to provoke an incident since they knew the USA had "the bomb" and they didn't. A squadron of B-=29s could have easily reached Moscow and obliterated it. General Patton was right......enlist the defeated German troops and kick the communists all the way back inside their own borders. Even today you can't trust the Russians as far as you can spit.
