Steve Strange's new musical project for 2011 is The Detroit Starrzz and sounds much like an up-to-date version of Visage! Search YouTube, Soundcloud or Facebook to find out more!...
Hi. well next time you see him tell him i remember the filming of this clip like it was yesterday, although it was about 100 years ago.
I has so pleased with my self when i turned up to film as they said i looked to good to thats why my hair is sticking straight up. They tryed to comb it flat.. it didnt work as it was so full of hair spray.. lol !! It was amazing to meet my idol Steve back then he was so nice to me. I hope he is doing ok i know he has had his problems. Keep well Steve. Ian x
@skipknight1 i think he is a sweetheart no matter what he does,i mean come on hes god.do you know who are the 2 ladies in the visage visage vid,are they models or are they sandrine and rosie(backup singers)?
does anyone know of any new romantic fashion designers and where to find pictures of their pieces and or infomation about them as i need it for an art project.
Francesco Scognamiglio,Comme des garcon, john galliano, junya wantanabe, vivienne westwood, gareth pugh, ann demeulemeester, victor and rolf, issey miyake, the recent ss 2010 marc jacobs show. Sooo many other designers because they are always inspired and influenced by new romanticism. it will always be around.
Fantastic !!! I was very young and a bit to pretty for a boy back then, but then it was the 80s after all. I wish I had said a little more but i was a bit star struck as Steve was my idol then. Thanks Steve I had an amazing day with you. I have not seen this clip for years. ( Im the boy in the clip by the way..!!)Ian xx
grunge subverted the so called "redneck" look of plaid shirts long johns ripped jeans etc etc. people here miss the irony that grunge fashion was punks dressed the same as the closed minded rural types that would kick their asses when they wore punk threads. and duran duran really were awful still are too. much too interested in swanning around with fashion models instead of writing decent songs.
Check out Klaus Nomi ,he and Numan started the whole thing. Nomi was the most original character/artists ever, unique voice.
Btw i agree on all your posts except where you say "grundge rebelled against the fake ass fashion crap" it was just another needed cycle of change that happens every few years still goes on to this day. Grundge was mainstream and boring at one point when it adopted a uniform & a musical format like punk. The next wave is coming, cuz everything is stagnant & uncreative now
Actually your right about them becoming bloody boring after a while and I got to admit I think Steve Strange is cool but Boy George was one of those fools and Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet lost it , especially Spandau Ballet as when they first came out they were very cool
duran duran had a teen following and were far too hip with the fashionista crowd but they didnt have the songs. and spandau ballet i mean they really bored me to tears as the 80's wore on. the only band that kinda carried on the new romantic early 80's futurist synth pop genre are The Killers. their first album is a corker, such a pity they went all bruce springsteen on the second album.
fuck all that rual Redneck shit, can't stand it, OK some of the Grunge music was OK but still bloody boring plep ass fashion crap, for dressing down Goth was better as far as I am concerned, loved the electronic 80's look, especially this guy and of course the cool Gary Numan, a lot of his early images where cool
That's because of aids. I'm surprised no one but me spotted that obvious link when the black plague of death to fun came out so did the colours in peoples clothes & attitudes.
Ever since grunge everyone dresses like the just fell off the turnip truck. What ever happend to people dressing up with some style and not looking like they walked in off the farm?
I like "over the top", just not tacky. And in this clip they were having someone dress them, so it wasn't individualism and creativity. I can respect originality.
