  • Idk why I laughed at this so much

  • Before YouTube, I never realized caterpillars shed their skins to become pupae.

  • Thanks for the upload, I've been looking for something like this. I remember as a kid collecting this in a box, and waiting for it's metamorphosis. By the end, when it was a butterfly I didn't want to release the monarch into the nature.

  • @Hahren He should have played the Pokémon evolution music. XD

  • It is amazing how they can change

    from one creature to another.

    Them and dragonflies are

    the only real shape shifters.

  • @IndigoCat17 Dragonflies transform? I had no idea. Something new to study along with caterpillars, THANK YOU! :)

  • i saw this one caterpillar who had markings on it's back that looked like google eyes, and when i poked it, a little orange "tounge" stuck out. wth is this bug?

  • WHERES THE WINGS.

  • Mother of god.

  • Can any of you that know about insects help me. I can't tell if their maggots or a worm or a catapillar. Its yellow small but kinda fat. It wiggles to crawl and has a black head. I don't know if it helps but I live in Anahiem, California.

  • @shadowhunter388 Sounds like a maggot to me.

  • I ordered 10 painted lady butterflies (caterpillars) one's in it's pupa stage right now and another is just hanging upside down, but not moving. They're cool.

  • looks like a dick wobbling around imo.

  • It has a Chrysalis house party near the end.. his neighbour was invited.

  • I loved the last wiggles at the video's end. Getting comfortable for the long sleep.

Night night little one. See you in the Spring!

  • this is soo amazingg

  • comme ça doit faire mal aie aie aie !

  • its dancing lol

  • his neighbors looks more legit

  • lol looks like its stuck in a sleeping bag XD

  • Also I it was interesting cause I didn't that this is how they enter a chrysalis

I was also hoping to see it turn into the same thing as its neighbor but that wasn't there.

    It was still awesome

  • It might be sick but it's also interesting.

I'm amazed how while it was moving around it didn't hit its neighbor.

Great Vid! How cool that you captured such an amazing moment.

  • insects makes me want to throw up

  • Apparently you want to throw up.

  • it's strange, the Cocoon is actually living

  • after it comes out its liek

  • @aeroces7 i lol'd

  • @aeroces7 with a baseball bat

  • That's so cool! I've got monarch caterpillars but I never get to see them go into their chrysalis or come out so very happy to see this.

  • I used to raise Monarchs and one time I was lucky to witness this and a butterfly hatching.

  • awsomeness five stars. i am raising one now that got pulled off the ledge it was hanging from when turning into a chrysalis. they are so cool.

  • Put it to the zerg song because it has nice moves and grooves.

  • Thats nothing!....I do that everytime I wank.

  • Huh, now I know how that happens, interesting

  • i am rasing one right now and its in its crysilist

  • This is a very interesting video to watch.

  • Awsome vid! I'm photographing 2 monarch chrysalides on my fence. Just a couple days ago, I had as many as 23 monarch caterpillars eating up my milkweed plant. They munched it down to bare sticks in no time, but that's cool; that's what I planted it for. Next year I'm planting more!

  • the f uck?

  • I photographed a chrysalis but missed this stage and missed it when it came out of the chrysalis. I enjoyed this!!

  • I love how you used ambient sound.

  • How long does that process take?

  • last summer i had the privilege of being hosts to little monarchs. it was an awesome experience. my garden was littered with monarch butterflies by the end of summer!

  • kinda creepy

  • ew that made me squirm a bit =P

    but cool

  • Comment removed

  • now thats gotta hurt when going to a chrysalis.

  • so cool, that's how I feel getting out my quilt on rainy work days

  • That was gross but coool it was liike taking its skin off O_O then its like dancing xD cool

  • thats some freaky shit.. awesome though!

  • I raise and breed butterflies (just cause I love em!) and I love it! I actually have a caterpillar right next to my computer who's going through that process right now!

  • Yeh that was enlightening. Great job.

  • U sick idioit! If you hate nature that much go commit suicide and go to hell! God worked hard on his creation! (Yes, I'm proud to say I'm a christian!)

  • what did it turn into? and why?

  • a chrysalis - - - to turn into a monarch butterfly.

  • how and where do you catch them or track em ive been looking for one caterpillar forever

  • If you have a milkweed growth area close to you, you're all set. I think you can also mail-order milkweed seeds, because, hard-to-believe; there are some sites that actually do that. Then, hopefully a fertilized female will come and lay an egg on the plant, and leave. Five days later and you'll have a tiny, tiny Monarch caterpillar!

  • ehh..... gross........

  • (\___/)

    (=`.`=)

  • AHHHHHHHHHHH YUCKKKKKK! iasuohgargh INSIDE OUT FUCKK YUCKK

  • wow.

  • Very interesting, how do you get them to collect there?

  • The Pupa comes out of the larva's skin?? I always thought it spun something around itself...

  • thats moths.

  • from 1:00-1:23 would be sad if it fell

  • very well done, i like it.

  • That is pretty darn amazing how nature is like that.

  • lol its spazzing T THE END.

  • did its ass fall off right around 1:09?

  • wtf cool im gana do surjery to 3 with my friend muahahaha lol

  • excellent - I can now show my granddaughter the stages of a chrysalis and now we will wait.... to see what happens to her chrysalis - hope its not too long!

  • beautiful

  • beautiful

  • Cool.

  • public nudity!! and rave dancing.. hahah awesome!

  • HOW THE FUCK?

  • Looks like he's having one hell of a party in that pupa.

  • awsome!

  • Wth?Its auctally having a war with it's own body! Its splitting in half,Then it wiggles still after it sheds conmpletely

  • i dont think it's spliiting in half. It looks more like a slit that leaks bodily fluid covering the caterpillar to form a chrysalis. if you wanna see a war with a person's own body, look up G.U.I.L.T.

  • thats an awesome transition and that fast ha?great vids thankz for sharin it here..

  • it spent like 20 minutes wiggling lol

  • ew, it like poos a yellow turd lol

  • its so cool to watch them form!

  • cool, but gross how he like...splits open!

  • Gracegirl, he doesnt really split open, he covers himself in the stuff to make a cocoon. (did i even spell that right LOL)

  • Actually, Believe it or not, He's really splitting open! Like how they shed... It's kinda creepy huh?

  • Actually, it's not a cocoon. Cocoons are made of silk, and are spun around the insect. Chrysali are "grown" out of the insect.

  • You should have put in the Evolution Music from Pokémon.

  • the end is weird

  • that is SO creepy!!

  • do they bite?

  • this is amazing..the close up way it is done...the catapillar definitely is in control..but then where does he go..I guess into hybernation while metamorphs into a new creation...wow...that was incredible..

  • well done!

  • Great footage. Nice to have the contrast to the completed pupa. Pleasant sound effects. Good job.

  • it made me kinda sick

  • yea i know what you mean. its cool and all but. I always hate the wiggling part in the end.

  • crazy

  • I had a pet caterpillar that was a baby. Few weeks later, it is already big!! Then, it morphed to a black chrysalis and my cat knocked it down and it exploded. R.I.P for my caterpillar!

  • Magical. THANKS :)

  • Amazing. I copied your video to show the children in my class - they absolutely LOVED it! Thanks for posting it

  • Nice job! Chris/JCMDIdotCOM

  • omfg goooddd,that was ammazing
