Your KD videos are so awesome! Takes me WAY back. I remember the Woodlands Theater being the FLINTSTONE FOLLIES....that's serious old school! I miss the Old KD.
This is a great video, I was the "Master Sound Tech" for a lot of these shows between 86-90 at KD and KI's Winterfest. We probably know each other. :)
@exartexart You will find a number of other KD videos I recorded with the full shows being viewed on my sight. Thank you again for taking the time to let me know you found my video. Its for people like you that I do this. You have a great day! You will find a grouping of KD videos within one of my lists. You will also find a KI Christmas show with I posted but did not record. He sent me one other as well that I will post before to long for this holiday!
It was so nice to see this *tear drop*. I've been a huge park enthusiast since I was a little boy, and Im 30 now. Been going to KD since the early 80's... sad to say, that they dont offer shows like this anymore(nowhere no it) must say though, its all about the thrills nowadays at parks, especially with the heavy competition...Just not the same. Thanks again for a trip down memory lane!
@strongmixture Thank you for the comment. They mean so much. Yes it is all about the thrills today at KD but I am glad to say that some other parks do not see it as only about the thrills. Look at Hersheypark today or Busch or Dollywood. All of these still care about thrills but equally care about the other side still as well. I wish KD would return to this as well. Was at KD today. Its sad that the park is not more today!

Thanks for these videos! I started going to KD when it was called Lion Country Safari before the park even opened. You would drive around in your car looking at the wild african animals that were eventually shown during the monorail ride. During the '70, my Dad worked for Barnstormers Airshows and flew one of the WWI Stearmans over the park complete with sky divers, wing walkers, and the hot air balloon show. I worked there myself in 1991. To this day I still miss Yogi's Cave! OCDIII
this is amazing! I like how I can actually see the folks with their 80s and 90s style. The whole feel of everything, its awesome. hurray for people with cameras back then, must have been expensive at first for you early adopters and considering not everyone had a camera/video camera like most people have today
@subtenko My camera back at that time was a little under 1000 I think. At that point in our life it was a lot of money. I am so glad that I took what I did at the time. Just wish I had done more but even the tape was costly at the time and I just did not film all that much. Glad to seep people like you enjoy what I have put up.
@KDFanPre91 yep yep, maybe you even know possibly about the 3 tombstones in the parking lot btw? its like a tree and grass area fenced in with 3 tombstones. maybe its the late owners of one of the old houses nearby is my guess
am 36 and have literally grown up with King's Dominion so I remember when it before Paramount tore it up and pulled out family rides to make room for that movie stuff. I have watched the first three and this is by far my favorite. I do have one question, I remember going to see the Grease show at Mason Dixon Hall a few years in a row, are there any pics of that?

@DianaGarnett26 I am not sure if you are talking about Rock around the Clock or Surfs up, or maybe Paramount on ice that did a segment on the show Grease. Well I have posted Paramount on ice and I have a photo of Surfs up on here. The show Rock Around the Clock was before I ever started taking photos of the shows but I very much remember the show.
@KDFanPre91 You are right, it was Rock Around the Clock and it was being performed during the time Grease was out. I remember there being a set of lockers on the stage as part of the set...
Thank you all for the comments. The good news is that a few parks still care about entertainment! Hershey park as many resident shows. Visit them between the start of June till the start of September. You will find many shows still at that park, Busch Gardens still has many and Dollywood is just great. I hope Kings Dominion will take note that people miss this part of the park and will make changes.
I remember very much as a kid watching the shows at the Woodlands as well as the indoor shows, its what I loved most about the park other than the rides. Parks these days just aren't the same, and I remember the very same show on the American Country show, in fact I remember meeting the red head in yellow dress. Man and the days with corded mics. You have no clue how appreciative I am that you posted these videos
Love the video!!!! It's too bad there aren't any videos of "Gotta Dance", "Hooray for Hollywood", "Celebration", or "ascinating Rhythm" - they look like they were AMAZING!!!!
Bill, all 3 videos were VERY good and brings back lots of memories of when I was "pre 92" haha. I really miss alot of this stuff and it almost breaks my heart to watch.
Love these videos you made. The clown band was always one of my favorites. Keep it up.
