We really must think of this logically. The Khazars had a huge empire, with a most likely large population who followed Judaism. When their empire was conquered, they most likely headed West, and met up with the Jews leaving France, Germany, etc. Sharing a common religion, the two people would have obviously mingled and eventually melded into one population. Do Ashkenazi Jews most likely have SOME Khazar ancestry, of course. Is it the majority of the genetics? Probably not.

Yes, the Ashkenazi are Jews from the Rhineland BUT they are not descendants of Khazars and science has proven that. The Ashkenazi originated in Israel and migrated north into the Rhineland. Ashkenaz is the HEBREW word for the region of the Rhineland.
Eventually some Jews migrated into Slavic areas but continued to speak their Medieval High German language, Yiddish. If the Ashkenazi came from Khazars, Yiddish would be some Khazar tongue, not Germanic one.

@IdelUralState That is not 100 percent proper, majority of Ashkenazi don't have Turkic genetics nor look anything like Turkic people. More resemble Armenoid than Turkic, and it makes sense why more would resemble Armenoid because Assyrians are Armenoid phenotype which mixed with most of the Jews when they were exiled into Assyria so it wasn't uncommon for Israelite man to mix with Assyrian. Also my family came from Romania but they were originally from Syria, we look nothing like turk or mongol

Actually the Khazar people weren't actually Turkic, but rather Northeast Caucasian. They are the ancestors of the today's Chechen people. And genetic evidence has proven this to be a fact. Plus actual Khazar writing has been found, which resembles Chechen to a high degree with some Bashkir Turkic influences.

No they were not. The GokTurk Empire stretched from Manchuria to Central Kazakhstan. It never even reached the heart of Khazar, Chechen territory.

No it is not. What has been founded by independent researchers was a small bit of Bashkir text. It is in no way Khazar as it cannot be confirmed Khazar as the Khazars created a massive empire which encompassed people that were Turkic.
It is hard to argue it is Khazar and not some group of Turkic people like the Bashkirs and the Bulgars which were around during that time.
Khazar Empire is called a Khaganate by Arabs, it is not a true Khaganate. It is too liberal and democratic.
